Waves build up in second meet of the season at Vallejo!
From Coach Jared:
This was my first chance to see some of my new Red and White swimmers compete. Their enthusiasm was palpable! It made the meet a lot of fun for me to coach. Each swimmer that attended earned multiple new best times. Some of these new best times were BB and A times! With just one meet under our belt, I feel confident we will be taking a BIG group of swimmers to the 2014 Junior Olympics!
From Coach Megan:
The Vallejo Meet was a great way to start the season with the Gold and Blue groups! There were a lot of fast swims and best times! All the swimmers did a fantastic job of coming prepared for the meet and being ready to race. I was very happy with all the work we have been doing on their turns and strokes. After seeing the swims at Vallejo I can’t wait for more meets this season!
Congratulations to all the swimmers that achieved a new time standard this weekend:
Rachel Lin, Julia Miles and Mitchell Guinan achieved new B times!
Camille Arca, Emily Mueller and Emma Guinan achieved new BB times!
Camille Arca and Emma Guinan achieved new A times!
From Coach Wedaman:
Another beautiful Northern California fall weekend for a swim meet and the SR 1 and JR 1 swimmers showed that they are doing a great job of learning and challenging themselves to get fitter and stronger and take care of themselves for the whole weekend.
We had 6 new Far Western Q times;
Megan Flynn in the 50 Free
Tim Lee in the 50, 100, 200 Free and 100 and 200 Butterfly
Group members who had outstanding performances were;
Alex Harris with 7 out of 8 new best times, Sophia Harvey 4 out of 4, Halle Kuhar-Pitters 8 out 8, Patrick Moe 7 out of 8 and Sydney Williams 6 out of 6.
From Coach Grace:
At the Vallejo Meet, we had several great swims. Taylor Petersen had seven new best times. She dropped a total of 48 seconds in the events she swam. Chase Dean dropped three seconds in his 200 free and four seconds in 100 breast. Andrea Amado dropped a couple of seconds in her 100 free as well. Britney Knight swam to a new best time in her 100 free. Rachel Lee received a new best time on her 200 IM and dropped 5 seconds in her 400 IM. There are a few technical things we need to work on, but I understand it was our first short course meet for the season. One of the things we learned at this meet was the importance to remain focused and mentally tough. I know when you're swimming an event, it is very HARD to not fall apart on technique because we are simply getting tired and/or outside factors are playing a part in our performance. I believe we had realized that we cannot only say we want to improve, but actually need to put our words into practice. Overall, the swimmers performed to the best of their abilities and learned quite a bit about themselves and where they can really go with our sport. Good job guys! Go Waves!
