Vaca Waves duel against CCA in the cold!
From Coach Lauren:
Our dual meet with CCA was cold, but successful! For many Vaca swimmers this was their first meet, and they did an amazing job! They learned how a meet ran, how to swim fast races, and how to have fun doing it. For our experienced swimmers, this meet was challenging and rewarding. The cold was a huge factor for most, but everyone persevered and swam great races. We had many best times and several first-time swims in the 500 free. All swimmers should be proud of what they accomplished!
From Coach Jared:
I was very impressed with all the swimmers at the CCA dual meet. The weather was less than desirable, but the Vaca swimmers came to the meet prepared. I saw all of our swimmers walking around the pool deck in warm jackets and with their feet covered up in winter boots. This is essential in order to swim fast at cold weather meets.
For this swim meet I was focusing on starts and finishes. The Red and White groups did a great job with strong streamlines from the start! It made a noticeable difference in each of their races! An area that our group has for growth is in our finishes. I saw swimmers breathing right before their finishes. This is an easy fix that I will incorporate into our workouts. Two swimmers earned new JO cuts: Finnley Chapman and Arilton Cabanero.
Great job Vaca Waves!
