Waves Rip Through End of Season Meets!

From Coach Brad:

Six of our Senior Elite swimmers traveled to Clovis, CA to represent our team at the Western Zone Senior Championship meet. This meet draws swimmers from all throughout the Western Zone, including California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Wyoming, Oregon, Colorado, and even Hawaii and Alaska! We had a couple of swimmers attending this meet for the first time, and a few returners. Overall, the swimmers did a great job representing the team and swimming fast to end the long course season.

Lauren Chun earned three new best times, including a 3 second drop in her 200 back.

Julia Key swam two best times in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke, breaking the 3 minute barrier in the 200 breast.

Abby Mitchell swam best times in both the 50 and 100 freestyle, and a 4 second drop in the 200 IM.

Ari Sweany had a great performancein the 400 free, dropping 3 seconds, and also swam a best time in the 100 fly.

Coty Norton swam best times in the 50 free, 100 breast, and the 200 fly (a nice 5 second drop!)

David Van Buskirk turned in a great meet with best times in the 50 free, 100 free, 200 free, and 400 free.

Congratulations to all the swimmers on a great meet and a great long course season!

From Coach Wedaman

The Vacaville Swim Team had a great Far Western Meet at the end of the long course season.  This is the premier age group meet on the west coast.  We had 6 individual qualifiers for the meet, 11-12 year olds Genna Lammon, Alex Harris and Skyler Carmelich, 13-14 year olds Abby Mitchell, Jalen Lloyd and Tim Lee.  We also qualified 3 13 – 14 boys relay with Amrit Sigh and Taylor Stevens joining Jalen and Tim.

We had two swimmers make the top 9 and get second swims.  Abby Mitchell was 7th in the 200 Breaststroke and Tim Lee won the 100 Freestyle with a new team record of 55.56.  Tim was also 6th in the 200 Freestyle and 9th in both the 100 and 200 Butterfly.
