Takeaways from Leadership Camp
Waves.....
This past weekend, two of our GOLD TEAM members participated in the Sierra Nevada Swimming Leadership Camp held in Roseville. Our athletes spent Friday afternoon and all day Saturday attending classroom sessions and pool time. I asked them to share their experience with the rest of the WAVE FAMILY and this is what they had to say:
Jalen Lloyd
"Ok, so the recent leadership camp I attended taught me about being a great leader, but it also taught me how to be a better person in and out of the pool. I learned that leaders have to be well aware of everything that goes on around them and be able to take full responsibility of their actions. Leadership does not only come in taking responsibility of things, it takes on many forms. Being a great leader for our a team means that you come to practice early, you are the first one in and the last one out. You never compromise your swim sets. Overall, the camp was great and I am starting to incorporate all of the things I learned, both for in the pool and out."
Alex Harris
"This past weekend I participated in a leadership camp. We had so much fun, in and out of the pool. This camp and it's speakers made me realize I want to be a leader on this TEAM. Only 2% of our population are actually leaders. One thing I am working on now is staying positive. Many people on this team, myself included, are negative. I am guilty of complaining, sometimes, but I am trying to change my ways. Not only for this team, but for my own life, as well. I really wish the entire team could have attended this camp because I learned so much about attitude and leadership. If the entire team was just as motivated, our bond as a team would strengthen. I love our team very much and I am proud to consider myself one of many athlete/leaders of the VACAVILLE SWIM CLUB."
