2016 NCSA National Championships

Orlando, Florida.......worked on my tan a little bit today with Tim.  It was part of our victory celebration!!!

This 5-day championship began yesterday with some distance events and some relays.  Tim, did not compete, but we readied ourselves for the next four days as weighty/very hungry opponents in the following events:

Wed.     200 fly

Thurs.   200 free/50 fly

Fri.        100 free/100 fly

Sat.      50 free

Prelims are contested in yards and Finals are long course.

Top-40 make it into Finals (A-B-C-D-E, 5 heats)!!

1600+ athletes competing.

Must be 18 & under and make very difficult time standard in order to take the blocks.

TODAY........
TIM LEE    200 fly best time 1:52.21     58th place over-all (was placed 160th) 3rd fastest time for 15 year-olds.

Previous best time was 1:56.68.  Sooooo, we are pretty stoked!!!  New FUTURES qualifying time.

Very proud and excited for our day one and looking forward to tomorrow.....

101 days till OLYMPIC TRIALS.

Conquered the sweet double swim in prelims today.....

200 free
Starting the day, Tim was seeded 215th in the 200 free with a best time 1:43.65, but that changed rather quickly.

New personal best, 1:41.59, good enough to jump to 71st place.  WOW!!!  It took a 1:40.20 to make finals (top-40)

His splits :23.8-:26.5 (:50.32) :26.1-:25.1 (:51.2).....amazing back-half swim!!!

50 fly

50 fly was a "bonus" swim for Tim and one I liked to fine tune for the 100 fly later in the meet.  You are seeded for the 50 fly based off your entry time for the 100 fly. TIM MADE FINALS!!! His :22.69 was fast enough to capture 40th place.  He will be swimming somewhere around 5:00 pm Nor-Cal time.

Tim's first-ever finals swim @ a Junior Nationals is in the books.  It is an interesting/challenging transition to swim yards in the morning and long course in the evening.....but we got it done.

Mr. Lee swam a blistering :26.04 which was good enough to advance him to 6th place in the "E" final!!!

AWESOME!!!!

Day 3 for Tim is a big one.  100 free and 100 fly this morning and we are seeded very strong. We will keep you posted.

Don't forget that Women's NCAA D1 Swimming and Diving Champs are being contested since Wednesday and their is two more days of competition.  Check it out.

First year in many that the NCAA Men's basketball Tourney is not taking a priority in my day.....I'm rooting for an upsrt this year.  The underdog's all the way.....kinda like how I view the Waves.  Nobody will be prepared for the up and coming greatness that lies ahead for the Vacaville Waves......are you preparing?

Far Western Champs begins next Thursday.......

Age Group Regionals gets under way today, Go get'm Emma, Will and Emily.  Tim and I are sending out power.....

Happy Birthday, Tim!!! Sweet 16 only comes once.

Our Day 3 was very sweet.  Our second day in a row facing a double-event swim session.

Tim's went best time in the prelims :50.93 (:24.1-:26.8) and it was good enough for 83rd place.  Great swim!

Well seeded going into prelims (top-40) we knew a solid swim would give us the opportunity to make it back for finals.  Tim posted :45.88 (tied for 27th) which was slighly off his best :45.69.

Finals were amazing.......(remember, finals is swum long course) not only did Tim win the "D" heat, he would have placed 2nd in both the "B and C" heats.  As well, he would have placed 8th in the Championship Final.  Life-time-best :51.99 was the 10th fastest time for the night.  By far, the fastest 15 year-old in the meet for this event. Tim had never broke :53 before.

Day 4 for Tim, he faces off competitors in the 50 free.....
