SNS Senior Winter Champs Meet
The Winter Champs was the first cold and rainy meet for the kiddos! The biggest take away from the meet was that it is possible to swim well even though the conditions are not perfect along with being mentally tough throughout the weekend. For this meet we placed 8th out of 15 teams regardless of the size. We only had 13 swimmers who competed in the meet with individual events with 1 relay only swimmer making a total of 14 athletes total. We would have been considered small teams but this meet did not break up the teams based on size. The girls placed 11th out of 15 teams with only six girls. The boys placed 6th out of 12 teams with only 8 boys. We may have been a small team but the kiddos represented our team well and held their own regardless of the elements.
Here is how the kiddos did:
Mikaila Anello sat on her times but has been busy with school and being sick that she was just a little off of her best times with minimal training heading into the meet. She also played a big part in the girls relays.
Makenna Brady sat on her times but as the weekend went on she got closer to her best times. Keep in mind she was visiting the happiest place in the world (Disney World) for two weeks before heading into the swim meet. She also played a huge role in the girls relays!
Jude Cabral did awesome this weekend dropping in the 50 free and 200 free!
Lila Chapman dropped over two seconds in the 100 free-dropping her time in less then week to 1:02.73! She also swam in the 400 IM and 400 free relays.
Lance Donaldson earn new best times in the 200 IM, 100 fly, 100 back, 100 free and the 400 IM. He also swam in all three boys relays this weekend. He also finaled in the 200 IM, 100 back and 400 IM.
Lukas Donaldson sat on his times but helped immensely in the relays. He was sick going into this meet and stayed tough to support his teammates until Sunday. Coach had to make a call to send him home because he was sick and needed rest. Although he was not feeling 100% he still finaled in the 50 free, 200IM and 200 free.
Tanner Ferguson earned personal bests in the 500 free, 200 IM and the 400 IM. He participated in his first ever finals in the 200 IM and 400 IM.
Jewely Lightfoot dropped over 15 seconds in the 1000 free and almost 5 seconds in the 400 IM! She also swam in the 400 IM relay. In addition to having a tough lineup this weekend she finaled in the 500 free, 200 free, 200 fly and the 400 IM.
Raquel Lopez was a relay only swimmer which she came in clutch on Friday and helped in the girls 200 IM and 200 free relays.
Ashton Martinez earned a new best time in the 50 free! He was so close to sub 26!
Kyle McAllister gained personal bests in the 200 IM. He finaled in the 200 IM, 100 fly and 200 fly. This was definitely a learning meet for him. He finally understands why I want him to warm up and cool down more efficiently!
Piper Miller earned best times in the 200 back, 200 fly and the 400 IM. She also finaled in the 200 back and 200 fly. She also led our girls in all three relays throughout the weekend.
Kylan Smith had one of the toughest lineups during the weekend but he handled it! He had 7 individual events and swam in all three relays. Oh and did I mention he finaled 6 events over the weekend outside of the 1000 free. They do not offer second swims for the distance free events.
Maxum Weber has worked hard all season to go sub 2 minutes on his 200 free and he finally achieved his goal! He earned new best times in the 200 free, 100 free and 400 IM. He also swam in one relay over the weekend along with making finals in the 200 free and 400 IM.
Nice Job Senior athletes!
