Sunday Message: Practice Changes this Week (PLEASE READ!!!)

Adam Depmore

Team,

In the world of sports, much like in parenting, we always strive for the perfect plan. And just as often, life hands us a moment where we need to pivot, adapt, and rise to the challenge.

As you know, our athletes have been preparing for the Graceland meet for months. The excitement is building, the work has been put in, and we are right there. While the meet is absolutely still on, we’ve encountered an unexpected wrench in our original plan.

Our pool heater at the YMCA is currently out, and although repairs are scheduled for this week, the water temperature is far from ideal for quality training sessions. So rather than letting this setback slow us down, we’re calling an audible. One that keeps our athletes on track and sets them up for success this weekend.

Updated Practice Plan (Monday–Wednesday)

4:00–5:00 PM — Junior Groups (J1, J2, J3) @ RRAC

All Junior swimmers are invited to train at RRAC. We’ll use this time to prepare for Graceland and give our families a chance to see where our team will sit and gather during the meet. It’s a great opportunity to build familiarity and confidence heading into the weekend.

5:00–6:00 PM — Senior & Elite: Turn-Focused Session

Senior and Elite swimmers will run a specialty session focused exclusively on turns. This is one of the biggest opportunities to gain time and sharpen race execution for Graceland.

6:30–8:00 PM — Combined Senior & Elite Practice

We’ll come together for a combined conditioning and race-component practice, emphasizing the finer points that elevate performance: pacing, transitions, and competitive details that make all the difference on race day.

While the RRAC may not offer the same warmth as the YMCA, it does offer us something unique:
A chance for our athletes to show resilience, adaptability, and determination. These are the same qualities that define great competitors.

We’re proud of the way our swimmers handle adversity, and this week will be no exception. With this adjusted plan, our athletes can continue pushing toward their goals and arrive at Graceland ready, prepared, and excited.

Thank you for your flexibility and your unwavering support. Thursday we plan on returning to the YMCA.

Let’s make this week count  and let’s make Graceland our best performance yet!
