RI Marlins Learn to Swim Policies Questions and Concerns
For any questions or concerns related to a swimmer and their class please email [email protected]. Instructors cannot be disturbed during their lessons or while on deck.
Annual Insurance, Registration, and Billing - No child is allowed to swim if insurance, registration, current or past payment, or try-out is missing. There are no exceptions.
All swimmers must re-enroll for every new season if they wish to continue lessons. All payments must be completed at least 2 days before the beginning of the month (or season - seasonal payments only) if you wish to keep the confirmed schedule. Otherwise, the spots may be released to swimmers on the waiting list.
The Lesson - During the lesson, there are no parents allowed on the pool deck. The only exception to this rule is for our Introductory class where a parent is not only allowed on deck but is required to be in the water. All parents are required to sit on the bleachers until their child’s lesson is over. Although we attempt to keep swimmers with a consistent instructor, it is not guaranteed.
Tryouts - Specific try-out days and times will be announced via email. After the try-out, the instructor will place your child into groups that correlate with their skill level. Equipment: All swimmers must come to the pool with a swim cap and goggles. Do not rely on any spares we may have in our closet; they are not guaranteed. Our swim shop does sell both goggles and caps, available for purchase at the pool. Safety: There is absolutely no running, fighting, shouting, or eating before, during, or after the lesson both on the pool deck and in the locker room. Parents, there are no shoes on deck. Keep snacks out of the locker room and deck. Do not allow your child to bring any jewelry or toys onto the deck.
Make-ups and Missed Classes -
We are under no obligation to refund or transfer any monies in the event that you are unable to attend part of or the entire course. The current volume and frequency of makeup classes represent a level of administration and coordination that is no longer sustainable. Accordingly, an amendment to the club’s makeup Policy is as follows:
NO makeup classes will be offered to swimmers who are absent for their scheduled class. Also, no makeup classes will be scheduled for classes that fall on formal Federal or State holidays. However, the Club recognizes that there may be circumstances where a makeup class may be offered.
Where a child misses three(3) consecutive swim classes or more through evidenced sickness/ illness (i.e a formal doctors note/certificate) the Club will attempt (without guarantee due to restricted schedule times and class size safety considerations ), to offer equivalent makeup classes to the extent possible.
Where the pool is closed by RIOC due to technical/mechanical issues. In this case the,e Club will attempt to reschedule classes. Where the pool/classes is closed /canceled due to adverse weather e.g. lightening, or for required sanitary/cleaning, attempts will be made to reschedule classes.
As a general rule, no refunds will be allocated, however, a credit may be issued to a member where makeup classes under the provisions above cannot be rescheduled, solely at the discretion of the Board.
Lost and Found - We are not responsible for any lost or stolen items. However, you are free to check our lost and found at your next lesson.
