Head Coach: Victor Brasil
Senior I , Senior II and Age Group I
Coach Victor has been around swimming his entire life. Born and raised in Brazil, Victor started competing at a very young age and worked his way through national and international competition. In the US, Coach Victor swam at Linfield college, breaking several school records and conference records. He was also the first athlete to represent Linfield at the NCAA championship in several years prior to his arrival.
Coach Victor is very passionate about his job and aims to teach the kids life skills through the sport. “Swimming requires skills beyond the physicality of the sport. The balance between mental and physical skills is what creates differentiated athletes. It is my priority to develop young athletes from the very beginning to the highest level of competition providing them with the mental and physical skills to succeed in all areas of their life. Always having as much fun as possible in the process.”
Coach: Dan Evans
Age Group I
Coach Dan has been a swim instructor and swim coach for the last 30+ years. He is currently the Head Swim Coach for West Salem High School and has coached there for 20 seasons. He started swimming at a young age, qualifying for Regionals as a club swimmer. He was rated a Top Five Swimmer for Oregon and swam for South Salem High School in his teens. He later went on to swim for Willamette University, where he was the teams captain his senior year. He has attended the Coaches College, at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado; as well as ASCA World Clinics and the State of Oregon Swim Clinics.
He is currently a PE teacher at Harritt Elementary School and has worked for the school district for the last 25+ years. His goal is to help facilitate the growth of Salem's swim community, and to make an everlasting, positive impact, on those he coaches. His passion is to teach as many people to swim as possible.
Coach: Alex Fay
Age Group I and Age Group II
Coach Alex has a passion for swimming that was ignited at the age of 12. Her journey in the sport blossomed as she excelled on the varsity team throughout high school. Beyond the pool, Alex finds joy in quality time with her three sons and aspires to explore the world through travel in the coming years. Her commitment to both family and the sport shapes her coaching philosophy, fostering a holistic approach that extends beyond the lanes.
Coach: Reyna Macias
Age Group II
Reyna is a graduate of West Salem High School class of 2024, Reyna has a remarkable history in competitive swimming, having been a dedicated member of the West Salem swim team from 2021 to 2024.
Her exceptional talent was showcased during her time on the team, where she earned district titles in the 50-meter freestyle and the 100-meter backstroke in 2023 and 2024. Additionally, Reyna played a vital role in the team’s success, contributing to the 200 meter freestyle relay that achieved a commendable 4th place finish at the OSAA 6A Championships in 2023 and a school record that same year followed by 9th place finish in the 400 Free Relay in 2024.
After graduating high school this past June, Reyna has decided to put college on hold this year to explore other potential life paths and In the meantime, she has taken on a part-time job with the Salem Swim Team under the guidance of Head Coach Victor Brasil & Coach Dan Evans both have been significant figures in her swimming journey since she began training at the age of 10. This opportunity not only allows Reyna to share her passion for swimming with the next generation of athletes but also enables her to contribute to the team that helped shape her own career. We look forward to seeing the positive impact she will undoubtedly have on our swimmers!
