Photography Policy
There has been ongoing discussion regarding the safety and appropriate use of images of children participating in sports. While the vast majority of photographs are taken in good faith and are entirely appropriate, it is important to recognize that images can be misused if common-sense safeguards are not followed.
H2okie Aquatics is committed to protecting the privacy, safety, and dignity of all athletes. To reduce risk and ensure respectful representation of our swimmers, the following standards apply to all photography and video taken at team activities.
Photography Standards
All photographs and videos must observe generally accepted standards of decency and appropriateness. Specifically:
-
Action shots should celebrate the sport of swimming and athletic achievement and must not be sexualized in any context.
-
Photographs must not be taken or retained if they reveal a torn, displaced, or otherwise compromised swimsuit.
-
Photographs should not be taken from behind starting blocks at the start of a race.
-
Photographs should not depict a swimmer climbing out of the pool in a manner that may compromise privacy or dignity.
-
Photography and video recording are strictly prohibited in locker rooms, restrooms, or changing areas.
Any image that does not meet these standards should not be taken, used, shared, or retained.
Parental Consent & Opt-Out Option
All parents and legal guardians are given the opportunity to opt in or opt out of the use of their child’s image during the registration process.
If you wish to change your preference at any time during the current swim season, you may do so by using the link below to opt in or opt out of permission for your child’s image to be used in club-related publications and social media.
H2okie Aquatics will make reasonable efforts to honor all opt-out requests in accordance with this policy.
