Scott Baldwin Head Coach

Scott Baldwin is the head coach of H2okie Aquatics.

Scott came to SWAT (now H2okie Aquatics) in 1995 while attending Virginia Tech, where he competed for the Virginia Tech swim team.  He graduated from Virginia Tech in 2001 with a dual major in Wood Science & Forest Products, after which he took over the head coaching position at SWAT.  Scott consistently coaches swimmers at every level of the sport, from the youngest Stroke School swimmers, to Junior National Qualifiers and beyond.  Scott's coaching accomplishments are many, including coaching University of Michigan swimmer Evan Gregg, a Junior National champion and Senior National/World Championship Trials qualifier.

Personally, Scott loves seeing the joy on a swimmers face after a personal achievement--seeing that expression of "Wow!"  He believes that swimming empowers young athletes with the tools they will need to be successful in the pool and in life.

Scott is happily married to Jennifer Baldwin, his loving, supportive, and patient wife.  They have two beautiful young girls, Emma and Ava, both of who enjoy the water and swimming among multiple other sports and activities.  Contact Scott either by email or phone.

Amy Brehl Age Group Coach

Amy grew up swimming in Illinois and Indiana, after which she decided to attend and swim for Virginia Tech.  She graduated from Virginia Tech with an undergraduate degree in Family and Childhood Development in 1995 and a Masters degree in Curriculum Instruction in 1997.  She began coaching with SWAT in 1997, after competing for the Virginia Tech swim team for 4 years and then serving as an assistant coach on the team for 2 years.  In addition, Amy served as head coach for SWAT before becoming a 3rd grade teacher at at Christiansburg Elementary School.  Amy has coached multiple Age Group and Zone Champions, Top 16 swimmers, and was recently voted the All Timesland Coach of the Year for high school boys in 2008.

She believes that it is very important for young swimmers to develop good stroke technique while having fun as they learn to be better swimmers and learn how to race.  Amy enjoys coaches because it gives her the opportunity to share the joy that she received from the sport as a young swimmer with the swimmers that she now coaches.  As a coach, Amy's goal is to help her swimmers build the foundation that they will need to be successful swimmers in the future.

In addition to coaching for H2okie Aquatics, teaching 3rd grade, and coaching for Christiansburg High School, Amy founded Southwest Virginia Swim League (SVSL) in the summer of 2000.  Under her organization, SVSL has grown from a 2 team league with under 50 swimmers to over 500 swimmers during the summer months.
