Meet Guidelines for Parents and Swimmers

  • Arrival: Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the warm-up time posted for the meet. It’s essential for all swimmers to be present at warm-ups

  • Preparation: Pack a permanent marker and use a heat sheet or Meet Mobile and write your child's event, heats, and lanes on their hand.

  • Coach Check-In: Look for an Amberjax coach at the venue and instruct your child to check in with them. Be familiar with coaches other than your own.

  • Essentials for Swimmers: Ensure your swimmer has their cap, goggles, towel, and healthy snacks and drinks. It is always a good idea to pack extra caps and goggles as this can be misplaced or they can brake.

  • Clerk of Course: Some of the meets will have a clerk of course for the younger children, especially the 8 and unders and mostly for the 25's events.  At these meets the swimmer must report to the clerk of course so they can organize them into their heats and lanes.  Swimmers will be notified at the beginning of the meet if there is clerk of course.

  • Parent Guidelines: Parents are not allowed on deck during meets except in emergencies or when volunteering as timers, or better yet as Officials.

  • Volunteer Sign-Up: Job sign-ups for timer positions will be posted on the website as soon as they are made available by the meet host.

  • Performance Expectations: Meets are valuable opportunities to assess your swimmer's training progress. It's normal for swimmers to have off days or face disqualifications (DQ). If your child is DQ'd, please allow the coach to discuss it with them. Our role is to ensure your child has a positive experience, regardless of their performance. And your role is to be your swimmer's cheerleader.

  • Post-Event Check-In: After finishing their event, swimmers reports directly to the coach for feedback on their performance. Please encourage your child to talk to the coach first rather than coming to you immediately.
