Nae Boersma joined the NOVA family in September 2018 and we are so so so lucky to have her knowledge and energy on our team! She is married with twelve children who all love swimming. She works part time, as a nurse in Northern Virginia at a Fertility Clinic and has been there since 2000. She works out regularly and has participated in Sprint Triathlons, 5ks, 10ks, and a ½ marathon.  In 1995 she took her first assistant coaching position with the McClellan AFB Stingrays in California. At that time, she had very little swimming experience but was very eager to learn and quickly developed a love for the sport. Her second year with the team she was promoted to head coach and continued coaching for 3 more years. Once the base closed, she moved to Virginia with her family.  In 2012, she started a swim team in her community. She worked as an assistant coach the first three years and also behind the scenes making sure the team didn’t fold. In 2015 she took over as head coach for the SouthBend Sailfish.  In 2013 she began working as a volunteer assistant coach with the Chester YMCA and continued to coach there until she joined NOVA in 2018.  She really enjoys working with the younger swimmers and watching their confidence grow as she teaches them new skills and techniques. Her main goal is to provide them with a positive environment in which they can develop these skills and a love for the sport.
