Meadowville Landing Swim Lessons

Hello and welcome!  This is all the information regarding group and private swim lessons held at Meadowville Landing pool for the Summer of 2024. 


The information below is specifically for youth learn to swim.  We can also facilitate adult swim lessons or competitive swimming lessons (for those swimmers that already know how to swim/are in summer league but want technique work).  Please email [email protected] if you are interested in either of those areas, otherwise you can read through the following info and register online if you want to sign up!

 

Register Online- starting 5/3/2024:

  1. Go to www.novasouthswim.org

  2.  Select “Meadowville Swim Lesson Registration Here” under pictures

  3. Select Lessons as your group AND select the class/time which is specified in the title and the description

  4. Fill out online registration and payment to secure your spot

  5. You will receive an email follow up to confirm class times and provide more information

 

What:

NOVASouth is offering swim lessons for swimmers 3 and up. Skills are progressively taught to get the swimmer prepared for learning competitive swimming skills. We have very low swimmer to instructor ratios, multiple class times, and a great program. If you need a different day or different time, we can try to accommodate!  

**We will offer classes based on ages and interest.**

Where:

Meadowville Landing Pool from 6/10-7/3 is Session 1 and 7/8-7/31is Session 2 for group lessons, 6/6-Labor Day for private lessons.  Instructors are available for hire in private pools as well.

10+under swimmers looking to learn to swim

Group Lessons

Level 1/Preschool:

Swimmers who have never had lessons or are not comfortable doing the skills listed below. No goggles are allowed.

Skills needed to progress to level 2:

  • Gets face / eyes wet unassisted – teach to blink afterwards

  • Blows bubbles (does not hold nose)

  • Submerges head completely underwater willingly* and blows bubbles without an instructor (holding the wall)

  • Willingly* and comfortably floats on back with or without instructor’s help (ears in)

  • Pushes from wall to instructor and instructor to wall on stomach

  • Jumps from the side of pool to instructor willingly

  • Kicks on kickboard willingly*, but with help – teach proper hand position (straight arms, hands holding top)

  • Kicks on back willingly*, but with help and support (arms at side

Level 2/Advanced preschool:

Swimmers who are able to perform Level 1 skills

Skills needed to progress to level 3:

  • Repetitive bubble blowing 5 consecutive times with head entirely submerged (first with instructor, then holding wall)

  • 25 yards proper freestyle kicking on a kickboard without an instructor – no scissor/bicycle kicks

  • 25 yards proper backstroke kick with arms at side without an instructor – again, no scissor/bicycle kicks

  • Streamlines to and from the wall, unassisted – face in with bubbles, kicking and proper arms

  • Retrieves object 3 feet underwater with bubbles

  • Jumps from side, surfaces and kicks on back to instructor the width of 2 lanes

Level 3:

Swimmers who are able to perform Level 2 skills.

Skills needed to progress to level 4:

  • 25 yards each: kicking on left and right side with an extended arm (freestyle breathing position) unassisted

  • 25 yards L and R side extended arm kicking with rotational breathing (rolling from side to stomach 6 kicks each with stationary arms and bubbles and then back to the breathing position)

  • Retrieves object from pool bottom

  • Proper breathing; inhaling through mouth, exhaling through nose

  • Jumps from starting block unassisted and kicks on back to the instructor

  • Jumps from starting block unassisted and streamlines to instructor then back to the wall

Level 4:

Swimmers who are able to perform Levels 2 and 3 skills.

Private Lessons

These can be semi private or private with the max number being 3/class.  Any ability/age including adults!

 

When:

From 6/10 and on we will have swim lessons at the Meadowville Landing Pool in three sessions for group lessons and on request for private lessons.  Classes must be either morning or evening, they can’t be a combination. 

 

Session 1:  June 10-July 3rd, 7-7:45 PM

 

Session 2:  July 8-July 31, 7-7:45 PM

 

Monday and Wednesday PM option- $140/swimmer/class

7:00-7:45 PM Level 1, Level 2, Level 3 will all be offered depending on interest


**Class times may be canceled, moved or combined based on low attendance

 

Cost:

Evening classes- $140/session

 

Private/Semi Private (1-3)

4x45 minute sessions $115 for 1, $135 for 2, $155 for 3

 

1st and 2nd registrations are 100% tuition, each swimmer after is 50%

(ie 3rd swimmer 50%, 4th swimmer 50%, etc)

 

We do offer adult lessons as well, please email for more information and scheduling.

 

Why:

Swimming is a life saving skill that every child needs to learn, being a competent strong swimmer gives every parent and child confidence and safety when around water. It also gives them the confidence and opportunity to pursue water sports both competitively and recreationally as they grow up.

*Sessions are signed up for individually, missed class due to inclement weather will be attempted to be made up one time, all classes have a minimum requirement to run
