Pre-Competitive Learn to Swim – PC:
Rocket Aquatic's (RA) Pre-Competitive program is geared toward the development and preparation of swimmers ages 4-8 for the competitive swim team. The program includes 5 highly structured levels of instruction which are executed by RA’s Senior Team members. Pre-Comp is overseen by the Head Age Group Coach and the Pre-Competitive Program Supervisor. As a swimmer progresses through each group, he/she will refine his/her technique in each of the 4 competitive swimming strokes and will receive training in various competitive swimming skills. Upon successful completion of the final level of PreComp, swimmers will be invited to join Rocket Aquatics.

Descriptions of levels:
Level 1: Pre-comp Level 1 is the first of 5 highly structured groups geared toward preparation of young swimmers for competitive swimming. Prerequisites to this group include swimmers that are still learning the basic water skills including fully submerging their body for 5 seconds, floating (with support) on their back and front and basic kicking (with support). Swimmers must be comfortable putting their face in the water.
Level 2: Prerequisites to this group include passing Level 1 or previous experience/exposure to swimming freestyle (front crawl) and backstroke. Swimmers must not be afraid of the water and be willing to get into the water on their own with minimal instructor assistance. Swimmers in this group are working to refine their freestyle and backstroke technique. This group introduces competitive swimming skills such as appropriate streamline push-offs, proper body position for swimming freestyle and backstroke as well as rotary breathing technique.
Level 3: Prerequisites to this group include the ability to maintain basic stroke technique for freestyle and backstroke for 10 yards. Swimmers in this group continue to refine their freestyle and backstroke to build endurance. Breastroke and Butterfly skills are introduced in this level. This group focuses on perfecting rotary breathing in freestyle and introduces breaststroke kick.
Level 4: Prerequisites to this group include all skills covered in levels 1-3. Swimmers in this level focus heavily on legal breaststroke kick and pull as well as dolphin kick.
Level 5 Prerequisites to this group include the skills covered in levels 1-4. Swimmers in this group increase their endurance in freestyle and backstroke in order to complete 25 yards of each stroke while maintaining proper stroke technique and work to refine breaststroke technique to ensure legal execution of the breaststroke kick. Swimmers will continue to work on legal butterfly, introduced to swim fins. Once swimmers can execute a majority of the skills covered in this group and are 8years old and younger the next progression will be joining the competitive swim team.
*For swimmers who turn 9 during their pre-comp session they may be recommended to join our swim clinic or swim team pending on skill level at then end of the session.
