The lessons group is targeted to youth participants above 6 years of age who have had little to no experience in diving. This program is an introductory session that will teach the fundamentals of springboard and platform diving. Within this session, participants will learn basic skills grouped into four different levels from basic to pre-competitive team skills. They will include but are not restricted to, stretching techniques, proper body alignment, body positions (tuck, pike, and straight), how to properly enter the water headfirst (both front and back entry), front and back take-offs, variations of jumping positions, and front and back dives. These skills are gained on and off the diving board and lower-level platforms (brown deer location only) that will enable participants to progress towards more advanced skills and/or dives.   Participants should be strong enough swimmers to be deep end of the pool.

Schroeder lessons are designed so that each night can accommodate brand new divers to returning lesson participants and divers that may have had instruction outside of the Schroeder programs. The sessions are customized to each diver’s skill level; having 4 different skill levels ranging from extreme novice skills to the minimum skill requirements to move forward onto the competitive team. Once participants complete all the level requirements, they may have the opportunity to join the competitive team. If the levels are not completed or the diver does not wish to join the competitive team, participants are encouraged to sign up for more lessons.

BROWN DEER LOCATION

Lessons are offered Monday & Wednesday from 6:00-6:50 pm during the school year. The summer session will have lessons offered on Wednesday evenings from 5:30-6:20 pm. Participants register for 1 session consisting of a 50-minute lesson, once a week for 6 weeks at a cost of $120. If desired, participants may sign up for more than one session.
