Image above shows how to write on the swimmer's arm or leg.  Below is example of a meet program and would be written as Event (E):18, Heat (H): 4, Lane (L) 1, Stroke (S) 100 Breast

Bring to meet:

Highlighter and black sharpie.

Buy Program, go through program and find the name of your swimmer and highlight event they are in and their name and heat.  Then use the above photo with the events written on the arm and put them on your swimmer.  Girls often put them on their thigh or arm.

This is to train them to pay attention to know what they are in so they can get themselves to their coach prior to their event for pre-event talk.  They then go to their lane a few heats before their heat and have cap and goggles on ready to go.  After their race they need to go to the coach for feedback.

It is up to parent and swimmers to get them ready for their race.  Coaches do not have time to search for swimmers.  This may cause them to miss another swimmer's race.
