USA SWIMMING OBJECTIVES

NSST provides both Age Group and Senior swimming programs as per USA Swimming objectives:

AGE GROUP SWIMMING OBJECTIVES– Age Group swimming is the program through which USA Swimming provides fair and open competition for its registered swimmers ages 18 years and younger.  It is designed to encourage maximum participation, provide an educational experience, enhance physical and mental conditioning and develop a rich base of swimming talent.  An environment that encourages participation by the maximum number of competitors, coaches, qualified officials, parents, schools and community groups will enhance achievement of these goals.  By providing recognition for all participants, a healthy motivation for self-improvement and advancement is attained.  Typical age ranges for this group are 8-12, sometimes 14 depending on their swimming ability.

SENIOR SWIMMING OBJECTIVES– Senior Swimming is the program through which USA Swimming provides fair and open competition for its members who are striving to qualify for participation in National Swimming Championships.  It is designed to afford maximum opportunity for participation, provide an educational experience, enhance physical and mental conditioning and develop a pool of talented athletes for high-level competition. This typical group is 14 and older.

Swimming is not aged related as much as it is skilled related.  We group kids based on their time, experience and skill in swimming.  We do try and place newer swimmers with kids their age, but sometimes that isn't possible.
