Leopards Coach:   Zachary Lewis, Art Tyler, Tyler Prescott, and Cathy Lewis Competitive Swim Coaches                                                           

This group is designed to provide swimmers with an emphasis on drills, starts, turns, and endurance.  Swimmers will also be introduced to different types of sets, race strategies, goal setting, nutrition, and mental preparation. Yardage and intensity will vary depending on the time of season. Dryland training will help build general strength. improve flexibility, and reduce injuries. ( due to covid 19 - no dryland training at this time however we encourage swimmers to do dryland training on their own to help them achieve their goals.

Prerequisites:  Swimmers must be able to swim 200 distances in all four strokes and a 400 IM. Swimmers should swim a 50 free under 30 seconds and a 100 free under 1:09. They should have an individual New England or Age Group time standard cut. Swimmers are to be USA Registered.

Swimmers assigned group will be chosen by the coaches to ensure the best practices for all swimmers.

Recommended Age Range:  11 and up

Recommended Practices:  Minimum of four days per week

Recommended Meets:  ALL YMCA and USA Meets

Practice Times: 

                    Fall:          Monday, Tuesday and  Thursday 6:30p.m. - 8:30 p.m., at Maloney High School
                                     Wednesdays 6:30-8:30 pm and  Fridays 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. at Meriden YMCA

      Spring/Summer        BOTH GROUPS at Maloney High School
                                       Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 6:30-8:30 pm
                                       Friday 5:00-6:30 pm at the Maloney High School
