Aqualions Roar at Autumn Splash

The Aqualions showed strong swims early in the short course season during the Autumn Splash Meet at State High School November 14-16, 2025.

Friday November 14

Distance Session

Aqualions Lucas Mercier and Mariano Fernandez-Murillo swam season bests in the 1650. Mercier placed second overall in 18:04.20, while Fernandez-Murillo swam a personal best of 19:51.09 for 4^th place.

Saturday November 15

13 and over

In the girls 200 medley relay, the team of Emme Lago, Sophia Werle, Emme Podgurski, and Shelby Bowersox placed 4^th with a time of 2:01.86. The team of Adele Hunter, Lucia Fernandez-Murillo, Bella Buchignani, and Mackabrie Winter placed 10^th in 2:14.58. The boys team of Eli Mercier, Jack Wolfe, Odin Leonard, and Lucas Mercier placed second with a time of 1:47.00.

The 200 back was exciting for SCAY. Emme Lago placed 4^th swimming a personal best time of 2:22.41. Adele Hunter placed 10^th overall in 2:29.14. Mackabrie Winter swam a personal best of 2:36.74, placing 14^th, while Bella Buchignani also swam a personal best to place 16^th overall with a time of 2:41.21. The boys also had great 200 backstrokes! Lucas and Eli Mercier raced to place second and third with times of 2:08.73 (personal best) and 2:11.79 (season best), respectively. Odin Leonard placed 4^th in 2:20.35, also a personal best.

In the 13-14 100 freestyle, Emme Lago placed 3^rd in 59.03, only hundredths off of her personal best. Emme Podgurski placed 5^th with a time of 1:00.99, while Shelby Bowersox placed 8^th in 1:01.46. Sophia Werle placed 10^th (1:02.26) with a personal best time; Mackabrie Winter placed 13th in 1:03.11 (personal best time); Bella Buchignani placed 16^th (1:04.97) with a personal best, and Lucia Fernandez-Murillo placed 18th, swimming to a time of 1:06.35. In the boys 13-14 100 free, Lucas Mercier placed first in 51.46 and Mariano Fernandez-Murillo placed 4^th in 1:00.65, a personal best.

In the 15 and over 100 freestyle, Cassidy Donaghy placed 10^th finishing in 1:01.91, while Jack Wolfe placed 5^th with a time of 52.33, a personal best.

In the 13-14 50 back, Adele and Emme L. raced hard finishing 3^rd (32.18) and 4^th (32.18) respectively. Sophia Werle placed 10^th in 35.05, a personal best. Odin Leonard placed 3^rd in a time of 30.63, a personal best.

In the 200 Butterfly, Emme Podgurski placed 5^th overall in 2:31.07, a personal best. Lucia Fernandez-Murillo placed 6^th in 2:54.54, a personal best. Jack Wolfe placed 2^nd in 2:11.99, a personal best.

In the 100 Breaststroke, SCAY placed 1^st, 2^nd and 4^th. Odin Leonard won the event in 1:07.94 with Lucas Mercier close behind in 1:10.54. Mariano Fernandez-Murillo swam a personal best of 1:18.31. Cassidy Donaghy placed 7^th in 1:17.15.

In the 13-14 50 Butterfly, Emme Podgurski placed 4^th in 31.40, Adele Hunter placed 5^th in 31.46, Mackabrie Winter placed 11^th in 33.47, Sophia Werle placed 13^th in 33.92, and Ellie Roy placed 14^th in 34.99. In the 15 and over 50 butterfly, Jack Wolfe placed 4^th in 25.20.

In the 13 and 0ver 200 IM, Shelby Bowersox placed 8^th and Sophia Werle placed 9^th in 2:32.96 and 3:34.28, respectively. Cassidy Donaghy placed 11^th in 2:35.76, and Ellie Roy placed 17^th in 2:48.53, a personal best. In the boys event, Lucas Mercier and Odin Leonard placed 4^th and 5^th in 2:08.87and 2:21.73, respectively.

9-12

In the 9-12 Medley Relay, the team of Ava Richards, Claire Roy, Gracin Valentine, and Harper Rose-Smith placed first in 2:18.56. The team of Elena Fernandez-Murillo, Sydney Lintal, Brooke Burmeister, and Crystal He placed 5^th in 3:00.45. The SCAY boys relay also placed first (Lucas Bittner, Daniel Fernanez-Murillo, Liam Burmeister, and Kai Suzuki) with a time of 2:26.11.

In the 9-10 100 freestyle, Sydney placed 6^th in 1:25.27, Daniel placed 3^rd in 1:30.40, and Grayson Mercier placed 6^th in 1:46.18. In the 11-12 100 Freestyle, SCAY raced to a 1-2 finish. Gracin Valentine placed first in 1:04.40 and Ava Richards placed 2^nd in 1:05.82. Harper Rose Smith raced to 5^th in 1:08.28, while Elena Fernandez-Murillo raced to 10^th and Clarie Roy to 12^th in 1:17.59 and 1:21.20, respectively. Lucas Bittner placed 3^rd in 1:07.33, while Kai Suzuki placed 5^th in 1:14.81.

In the 9-10 50 back, Crystal He placed 6^th in 41.71 and Daniel Fernandez-Murillo placed 2^nd in 44.43. Grayson Mercier finished 4^th in 49.98. In the 11-12 events, Gracin Valentine placed 1^st in 33.80, Ava Richards placed 4^th in 35.86, Claire Roy placed 7^th (38.27) and Harper Rose-Smith placed 11^th (40.45). Lucas Bittner won the boys 11-12 50 back in 36.49 and Kai Suzuki placed 7^th in 41.23.

The 100 breaststroke was a great event for the Aqualions. Sydney placed 6^th in the girls 9-10 event in 1:53.91. Liam Burmeister and Daniel swept the 9-10 boys event with times of 1:25.42 and 1:39.66, respectively. In the 11-12 girls event, SCAY swept the top three with Gracin (1:23.50), Ava (1:24.41), and Harper (1:27.72). Claire placed 5^th in 1:28.85 and Elena placed 9^th in 1:50.19. In the 11-12 boys event, Kai placed 3^rd (1:38.97).

In the 9-10 50 Butterfly, Crystal placed 3^rd (42.43). The boys went 1-2 with Liam Burmeister touching first in 34.45 and Daniel Fernandez-Murillo in second (41.21). Grayson Mercier placed 5^th in 1:03.83. In the 11-12 girls 50 fly, Gracin Valentine touched second in 33.21 and Claire Roy placed 5^th in 43.16. Kai Suzuki placed 3^rd for the boys (40.01).

In final event of the session, the 200 IM, Crystal placed 10^th (3:33.98)!

Sunday November 16

13 and over

In the 200 Free Relay the team of Emme Lago, Emme Podgurski, Bella Buchignani and Shelby Bowersox placed 4^th in 1:49.76. The team of Cassidy Donaghy, Ellie Roy, Lucia Fernandez-Murillo and Mackabrie Winter placed 9^th in 1:57.20. In the boys event, the team of Odin Leonard, Eli Mercier, Jack Wolfe and Lucas Mercier placed 2^nd in 1:34.76.

In the individual 13-14 200 Freestyle, Mackabrie Winter placed 4^th in a personal best time of 2:12.23. Shelby Bowersox placed 5^th in 2:14.25, Bella Buchignani placed 7^th in a personal best time of 2:20.56, and Ellie Roy placed 10^th in a personal best time of 2:40.94. In the boys event, Lucas Mercier placed first in 1:53.85. In the 15 and over 200 free, Jack Wolfe placed 3^rd in 1:56.87, a personal best.

In the 13-14 50 Breaststroke, Emme Podgurski and Ellie Roy placed 5^th and 6^th with times of 37.94 and 39.99, respectively. Both were personal bests. Odin and Lucas finished 1-2 in the boys event with times of 31.02 and 32.23 (personal best). In 15 and over, Cassidy finished in 35.71, placing 6^th; Jack finished second in 31.35.

In the 100 Back, Emme Lago finished third in a personal best time of 1:07.48. Bella placed 7^th (1:14.91) and Mackabrie placed 8^th (1:15.14; personal best). Eli placed 5^th in 15 and over boys in a personal best time of 59.29.

In the 13-14 50 Free, all of the Aqualions competing the event placed in the top 10. Emme Lago placed second (27.54; personal best), Shelby placed 4^th (27.92; personal best), Emme Podgurski placed 6^th (28.41; personal best), Bella placed 7^th (28.58; personal best), and Mackabrie placed 9^th (29.40; personal best).  Lucas won the 13-14 boys event in 23.52. In the 15 and over 50 Free, Jack placed 4^th in 23.66, a personal best.

In the 200 Breaststroke, Lucia and Ellie placed 10^th and 11^th with personal best times of 3:05.94 and 3:14.43, respectively. Odin placed 3^rd in the boys event with a time of 2:27.04.

In the 100 Butterfly, Emme Podgurski placed 4^th in 1:08.95, Lucas placed first in 56.90 (personal best), and Jack placed first in 55.77a personal best.

In the 500 Free, Shelby and Mackabrie had a close race finishing 6^th and 7^th overall in times of 5:52.58 and 5:53.23 both personal best times. Lucia placed 13^th in 6:23.08.

9-12

The SCAY 200 Free Relay team of Elena Fernandez-Murillo, Claire Roy, Harper Rose-Smith, and Gracin Valentine placed 1^st, touching the wall with a time of 2:07.53. The boys team of Ulric Leonard, Grayson Mercier, Liam Burmeister, and Lucas Bittner finished second in 2:19.35.

In the 200 Free, Gracin Valentine placed first in 2:19.48; Harper Rose-Smith placed 7^th (2:35.02) and Elena Ferandez-Murillo placed 8^th (2:46.32). In the boys event, Daniel Fernandez-Murillo placed 3^rd (3:04.27).

In the 9-10 50 Breaststroke, Sydney Lintal placed 6^th (48.49) and Crystal He placed 10^th (54.69). In the boys event, Liam Burmeister and Ulric Leonard went 1-2 in 39.77 and 45.53, respectively. Grayson Mercier placed 4^th in 58.47. In the 11-12 girls race, SCAY swept the top 3 spots. Gracin Valentine placed first (38.32), Claire Roy placed second (39.40) and Harper Rose-Smith placed third (39.75). Brooke Burmeister placed 11^th in 50.02. Lucas placed 3^rd in the boys event in 45.20.

In the 9-10 100 Back, Grayson placed 2^nd in 1:47.06. In the 11-12 event, Claire placed second (1:22.09), Elena placed 6^th (1:31.28), and Lucas placed 1^st in 1:20.53).

In the 9-10 50 Free Sydney placed 4^th (35.71), Crystal placed 13^th (42.61), Ulric placed first in 34.53 and Grayson placed 7^th in 44.62. In the 11-12 50 Free, Harper placed 5^th (32.01), Brooke placed 11^th (36.08), and Lucas placed 3^rd (30.93).

In the 200 Breaststroke, Claire placed second with a time of 3:05.63.

In the 100 Butterfly, Liam placed 1^st with a time of 1:14.92.

In the final event, Gracin Valentine placed 1^st in the 100 IM with a time of 1:12.92. Claire placed 6^th with a time of 1:23.44 and Crystal placed 15^th with a time of 1:42.68.

In the boys event, Daniel placed 5^th in 1:29.83 and Grayson placed 10^th in 1:53.70.

Mini Meet

In the 25 Breaststroke, Phoebe Boyce placed 13^th (38.59) and Evie Kaplan placed 14^th (40.17).

In the 25 Freestyle, Phoebe placed 15^th (27.95).

In the 50 Freestyle, Evie placed 13^th (59.93).

In the 25 Backstroke, Evie placed 8^th (26.89) and Phoebe placed 12^th (27.70).

In the 25 Butterfly, Phoebe placed 7^th (34.32) and Evie placed 10^th (37.53).
