Coach Tori Pocius

Coach Tori grew up in Scranton, PA and started swimming for the Greater Scranton YMCA (GSY) Stingrays at age 10. She also swam for USA club team Blue Dolphin Aquatics and competed in high school for Scranton Prep. Although she didn't initially enjoy distance events, she grew to love competing in long course events and went on to swim distance freestyle events at Lafayette College before shifting focus to teaching and coaching. She has coached summer league, Lackawanna League, USA, YMCA, and Division III  swimming. In her time on deck she has coached multiple All American Swimmers, Junior Olympic Qualifiers, and YMCA District, State, and National Qualifiers.  In addition to coaching, Coach Tori taught swim lessons in Pennsylvania, Kansas, Virginia, and Iowa for swimmers of all ages and abilities. She is passionate about stroke technique and encouraging team spirit!

Outside of the pool, Coach Tori earned degrees in Ecology and Evolution from Lafayette College, The University of Kansas, and Iowa State University. She is an expert in monarch butterfly biology; she currently works as an industry enomologist. She lives in State College with her husband Matt, and their dog Smidgen.

She's excited for her 7th season at SCAY and is looking forward to encouraging each SCAY swimmer to be their best  in and out of the pool.
