Hello!  My name is Riley Funnell and I am the Head Coach for the Patrick Henry Piranhas swim team.  I have been swimming since the age of eight with my summer swim team, Battlefield Green, transitioning to an assistant coach!  I have been coaching for the Piranhas for 4 years, and 3 years as the Head Coach.  I currently attend Reynolds Community College and am following my passion of teaching.  I cannot wait for an amazing season with you all, go Piranhas!

Meet Coach Jay, now in his 3rd year coaching the Piranhas!  Jay brings lifelong experience to the pool—having grown up swimming with the Piranhas and competing with the Patrick Henry High School swim team. He's also spends his time as a certified lifeguard, summer camp swim instructor, and private lesson coach. Jay loves watching swimmers progress and brings a fun, but competitive edge to evey practice and swim meet!

Meet Coach JJ! Now in his 2nd year as Assistant Coach of the Piranhas, Coach JJ brings energy, experience, and a passion for the sport.  In his spare time he swims for the Patrick Henry High School Swim Team and coaches for his summer team - Hanover Sharks.  JJ loves helping young swimmers grow in the pool and finds joy in watching them reach their swimming goals. 

Welcome Coach Theo in his first season coaching with the Piranhas!  Theo is all swimming - from joining swim team at a young age, participating in summer leagues, and currently swimming year round as well as on his high school swim team.  Truly Eat-Sleep-Swim Repeat

I am the Service Delivery Director of Aquatics for Patrick Henry Family YMCA and I love the energy from our Piranhas! I'm thrilled to educate people of all ages about water safety. Being able to give individuals the tools and confidence to thrive in the water is very special to me. Ready for our team to make some waves this season!

I am currently the Regional Aquatics Director at the Patrick Henry YMCA and am so excited for our upcoming season.  Swimming has always been a passion of mine and a huge part of my life.  Some of my very best friends and memories are from the swim team growing up.  I can't wait to share my love and knowledge of swimming with all of our amazing swimmers!  Go Piranhas!!
