WHAT TO PACK FOR A SWIM MEET
Swim meets are an all-day affair. Without the proper gear, food and drinks, it can be a stressful day for swimmers and parents! While each club is usually assigned a designated spot in the swimmers’ camp, space is often limited so please be considerate of other swimmers.
HERE ARE SOME TIPS FOR WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING TO A SWIM MEET:
Pack a blanket, pillow, lawn chairs, lunch or cooler bag and anything else used for relaxing.
Bring extra swim goggles and an extra bathing suit. Sometimes a 'wardrobe malfunction' can occur so it is always good to be prepared with a backup.
Bring a hoodie, Camrose Sea Serpents t-shirt and pants for swimmers to wear between events. Swimmers are in and out of the pool all day and will be damp most of the day. It is recommended that you bring multiple clothing options and towels so swimmers can stay warm. Often the camp areas can be cool. Bring a change of clothes for the end of the day.
Bring several kinds of entertainment for your swimmer in between events - books, board games, decks of cards, crayons and other games. Please leave valuables and electronics at home!
Most swim meets are indoors, however, on occasion, meets and designated swimmer camp areas can be outdoors. In these situations, pack for all conditions. Bring sunscreen, blankets, rain gear, hats, sunglasses, etc. Some families even bring small tents.
Bring a dry set of clothes for your swimmer to change into at the end of the meet.
Pack a healthy lunch and snacks in a cooler. Pack plenty of fluids such as juices, and plenty of carbohydrates. Some pools have concessions but healthy options might be limited.
Please label everything your child brings to the swim meets – it is easier to locate if you have your name on it.
