KSC Senior Spotlight
SENIOR SPOTLIGHT
A Little About Skyler Rodriguez ~
How old were you and why did you decide to swim competitively?
I started competitive swimming when I was 9 years old. I started out with soccer, basketball, hockey, and wrestling but they never really fit me well and I enjoyed swimming.
What’s your favorite event(s)? And, why?
My favorite event is the 100 fly because it takes a lot of energy to produce the stroke correctly, I usually have little energy, so with that logic, I obviously love swimming it.
What advice do you want to share with the younger swimmers on KSC?
Everyone is different so do the sport you love. If you find joy in swimming, dedicate your time into improving it. If you are lackluster, don’t force yourself because it will never be fulfilling or earnest.
What is your favorite swimming memory?
The Kodiak swim meet in 2019, while on the 15 hour boat ride back we had 25 foot waves!
What are your plans for next year; going to college, in-state or out of state? If so, where? Taking a gap year? Going into a trade? And, is swimming part of this chapter?
I plan to attend Colorado State University and study Environmental Science. I also plan to swim on a club swim team.
