Shenanigans and Swim-a-thon Countdown

Jaime Roth

Hello Fearless Fundraisers!

Two weeks left until Swim-a-thon. Please keep harassing your family, friends and neighbors. We are only about half-way to meeting our goal of $18,000. Please bring packets and money to practice tomorrow if you have anything to add to our tally.

We have been getting a number of complaints from adults and children alike about some behaviors going on before practice. There are several kiddoes who are showing up quite early before practice and are floating around unsupervised. Nothing terrible has happened as yet, but we can see this becoming a problem. A recent specific issue is a number are running around playing hide and seek and opening locker room doors belonging to the opposite sex and peeking in. Girls opening doors of the boys locker room in this case. Sometimes kids get in arguments and then we as coaches have to deal with these issues while we are on deck trying to coach.

Please if at all possible, do not have your swimmer arrive more than 15 minutes before their practice starts if they will be unsupervised. If this is unavoidable because of bus/work schedules, please have a conversation with them to enforce the following that we have communicated to them today:

NO hanging out in the lobby, locker room or the hallways but stay on the upper deck where they are more visible and less likely to get into trouble. As much as possible, they should be seated, playing cards, eating a snack, reading a book, chatting, CHILLING OUT.

Most importantly, please know we care about each and every one of our swimmers and are not trying to pick on anyone. They are all good kids, and we enjoy coaching them.  We just need to know that everyone is safe, so that we can focus on our jobs of cracking the whip in the pool. Thanks so much for your understanding!

Sincerely,

KSC Coaches
