Peterborough - Friday
Three athletes chose to race the grueling 800m freestyle. All three of them swam hard and earned best times. Stephanie Cairns competed first an took off six seconds, clocking in at 10:19 which was not only faster than the Age Group Championship per-requisite, but she also qualified for Ontario Festival.
Katelyn Cairns raced next and dropped over 20 seconds, coming in at 10:49. Chances are that she will drop an additional 20 seconds next time she swims it by making a slight technical adjustment.
Melissa Dingle swam in her first ever long distance free event and posted an amazing time of 11:36. She gained a tremendous amount of experience and will likely take off approximately one minute before the end of the season.
These first three races of the season set a very high standard for the rest of the team. All of the tough training in the glorious new pool is already paying off big time and will most definitely continue for the rest of the weekend and remainder of the the season.
