Easterns Day Three

Brandon Oates

As the meet proceeds, results just keep getting better! Talia Pappalardo dropped nearly two seconds on her best event, the 200m backstroke. She posted an outstanding time of 2:21.92, which placed her 16th overall and she currently holds the spot of first alternate for finals. At only 14, she will be able to easily qualify for finals in all events next year since she is currently racing on the 15 and under age group.

Shakil Jiwa had another incredible race dropping over half a second in the 100m freestyle. His time of 53.41 allowed him to finish 18th overall. Although he is racing in the 16 and under category, amongst 15 and under males, he posted the second fastest time and that means he could have a podium finish next season.

On Sunday, the final day of competition, Pappalardo has two events and Jiwa has one. Pappalardo will begin the day with the 200 individual medley and finish the meet off with a grueling 800m freestyle. Jiwa's last race will be the 200m freestyle where he will look to go even further under the two minute mark.
