Festivals Wrap Up
Toronto - The Sunday evening session was very grueling, but the BYST athletes persevered and managed to get some best times. The team finished 12th overall with 116 points. After defeating 10th place Newmarket in the previous three relays, the boys team of Ryan Jarvis, Rafik Jiwa, Alexander Grant and Isaac Jarvis were out touched in the 4 x 100m medley relay. It wouldn't have mattered if the boys had won the relay since they were disqualified for a non-simultaneous touch. Had they placed first in that relay, the team would have clinched 10th spot in overall team standings.
In the individual events, Melissa Dingle and Alexander Grant both had outstanding swims in their 200m backstrokes, posting best times of 2:36.23 finishing 4th overall for Dingle and 2:40.17 good enough for 11th spot for Grant. Grant also raced the 400m freestyle where he placed 10th in a time of 5:09.56. Rafik Jiwa swam the 100m breaststroke finishing 5th in a time of 1:24.23.
Isaac Jarvis competed in the 200m backstroke finishing 5th in a time of 2:35.08 and the 400m free placing 9th by clocking in at 4:50.24. Ryan Jarvis also swam the 200m backstroke, finishing 7th in a time of 2:40.05 and the 400m freestyle, coming in 11th clocking in at 4:56.87. Katelyn Cairns raced the 400m freestyle and posted a best time of 4:47.70 finishing 4th, just missing the podium by eleven hundredths of a second.
