Stefan's final swim at World Trials was a best time in the 50 free at 24.21 finishing 26th over all. His previous race yesterday was a 4.10 400 free, well over his best time. At the conclusion of the meet Stefan is the fastest 17 under in Canada in 100-200 freestyle.
Racing out of lane 1 tonight Stefan had to have a big effort in a fast field. His first 25 split was great against the field as he pushed to be in the race. Ultimately the fast inside lanes built on their momentum and took over the race. Stef finished back from his prelim best time but a great effort.
Stefan raced to a best time in prelims in his 100 free. Shaving .28 off his previous best he ended up 17th after prelims but has been the benefactor of some scratches and has advances to the B final.
Swimming out of lane 7 tonight Stefan had his work cut out for him as the men took off fast. The mornings cagey swimming no longer evident as the field played for real. Stef valiantly stood his ground through the race but could not reel the top 4 in. He swum a better second half of is race than prelims but was a bit off his morning time. He now moves on to the 100 free tomorrow.
After a gutsy effort finishing 3rd in the top seeded heat Stefan qualifies 6th into the final. Good luck to him for tonight.
It was a titanic battle and in the end 55 points is all that separated Hyack from the eventual winners. Make no mistake, Hyack performed far beyond our seeded entry standard and our swimmers rose to the occasion putting us in contention. Leading for two full days we essentially ran out of two scoring swims in final tally. Long course we will be back and looking for a return to the top! Our night started with 400 free. The evening started with a dual between Victor Krawus and a Chena boy in the 200 Breast with Victor quietening the green cheering section with a decisive orange and black VICtory. 400IM had Hyack swimmers earning valuable points. Hattie Sun races to 6th and Ethan Laing obliterated the field for Gold. Chris Baker raced to 4th as did Sarah Whelan. We head into the finals tonight in 6th place from day 1. We are positioned well to advance with 22 finals plus relays tonight The 200 IM set the tone right with a bronze from Hattie Sun who also achieved her Age Nats, gold from Ethan Laing, bronze again with Chris Baker and Gold from Stefan Milosevic.
