Cascade Speed Meet Recap

Cascade Speed Meet

This past weekend a small but mighty group of LASC swimmers took the quick trip north to Calgary to swim at the Cascade Speed Meet at the MNP Sports Centre. There, the 14 swimmers took on tough competition from some of the top teams in Calgary, Edmonton, and the surrounding areas.

The LASC swimmers made their impact felt over both days of the swim meet with many finals seeing multiple representatives of LASC step up, with the team seeing a number of event wins as well. Overall, the group saw 40 personal bests fall during the weekend with all of the swimmers stepping up and delivering their best efforts each time. One of the big delights was seeing how often the swimmers stepped up and improved upon their time in finals. It can be difficult lifting in finals after a full morning of racing but the swimmers were able to find a way time and time again.

A great meet with fantastic results, 10 of the LASC swimmers were able to either crack into the Top 10 Age Group Rankings for the Club or move up from their original ranking. A great sign for things to come as the team gears up for a big finish to our first cycle in December.

LASC now gears up for the Killarney Short Invitational in Calgary from November 22-24th and the AMAC Fall Invitational in Medicine Hat from November 29th - December 1st. We also have a number of LASC alumni setting their sights on the Canada West Championships in Vancouver with the UofL Pronghorns from November 22-24th.
