Hello LASC Families,

I hope you have all been able to enjoy the first few weeks of the new year. Here is some information on upcoming items for the next few weeks. 

Team Photos

We have some team photos with the groups set for today and tomorrow at practice. They will take place roughly at the start of each group's practice time slot. Please bring an LASC t-shirt. If you have not received a t-shirt this year, please let us know, and we will give it to your swimmer when they arrive for the photoshoot. 

Monday, January 27th: Provincial (4:45 PM), Olympic Way 1 (5:05 PM), Jr. Horns - M/W (5:25 PM)

Tuesday, January 28th: Academy (2:30 PM), Jr. National & National (3:55 PM), Olympic Way 2 (5:05 PM), Jr. Horns - T/TH (5:25 PM)

Swim Alberta Festivals

Six LASC swimmers made the trip up North to Edmonton this past weekend to compete in the Swim Alberta Festivals meet. This meet acts as a Provincial Championship meet for swimmers aged 12 & under in the Province. Congratulations to Victoria Aguilar, Asher Friesen, Kylie Kozub, Nyah Nickel, Evelyn O’Brien, and Olivia Spencer for qualifying and competing at Festivals. LASC swimmers set 24 new personal bests throughout the course of the weekend. A big congratulations to Asher Friesen who took home honours in the 50 & 100 Breaststroke races as he claimed victory and gold in the 100m and a silver medal in the 50m edition. We’re looking forward to growing our team of qualifiers for Summer Festivals later on in the year where we will play hosts to the competition here at our home pool.

Upcoming Meets

UCSC Grand Prix - Calgary - January 31th - Feb 2nd

Thank you to everyone who has signed up for the meet. This is a 3 day Heats and Finals meet for Academy and National Swimmers only. Meet info and swimmer entries are attached to our meet event page.

Maverick Madness - Calgary - Feb 7th - 9th

Thank you to everyone who has signed up for the meet. We have almost 50 LASC swimmers registered for what appears to be an exciting meet at the Seton YMCA Pool in South Calgary. Meet info and swimmer entries are attached to our meet event page.

LASC Friday Night Races - February 14th

This will be our first Friday Night Races of the 2025 new year and we invite all members of the club, from Academy to Jr. Horns to come and participate. The event will run from 4:30 - 6:00 PM.

Western Transmountain Festival III - Calgary - Feb 21-22

Registration and the meet package is posted on our event page. Registration deadline is January 29th. This meet will be open to qualifying swimmers in the Academy, National, and Jr. National groups. Long Course Qualifying standards are listed in the meet package, you can email your group coach if you have any questions.

Winter Provincial Trials (Mar 7-9th) & Winter Provincial Championships (Mar 21-23rd)

In March we have two Provincial Competitions that require qualifying times in order to attend. Winter Provincial Trials will be held in Calgary and require at least one Provincial Trial Qualifying Time. Winter Provincial Championships will be held in Edmonton and will require at least one Championship Qualifying Time. You can find the list of current qualifiers along with time standards on our website here.
