Past Meets
Marlin Mercenary Madness
LASC sent just over 30 swimmers to Medicine Hat this past weekend to participate in the AMAC Marlin Mercenary Madness swim meet. The 3 day, Heats and Finals event saw plenty of excitement and fast swims as nearly every swimmer made multiple second swims. Throughout the meet, cheers and chants could be heard from the LASC swimmers as they supported their teammates throughout the meet. It was always evident when an LASC swimmer was racing as there was often a cheering squad following them back and forth on the side of the pool. Swimmers set or broke over 100 lifetime bests and collected 7 Gold, 8 Silver, and 10 Bronze Medals for their efforts. Some top performances were shown as Livia Eastman, Elizabeth Forestell, and Bronwym Hamer all walked away with a new besttime in every event they competed in. Evelyn O’Brien won a team high 4 individual events while placing 2nd in two more. We also added a new Provincial Trials Qualifier in Esme Laird. Congratulations to all of the swimmers who competed.
Cascade Speed International
Fourteen swimmers spent the last weekend in Calgary at the Cascade Speed International. The meet brought many of the top swimmers in the province and Saskatchewan to the MNP Community Centre for some fast racing. Despite having to deal with very long sessions on a very hot pool deck, many of the swimmers were able to produce lifetime or season best swims enroute to a number of second swims. The swimmers broke just over 30 lifetime bests along with picking up 5 Gold, 4 Silver, and 1 Bronze Medal. There were a number of notable swims on the weekend. In the 50 Breast, Aaron Friesen narrowly missed the long standing club record by 21 hundredths on his way to a Gold Medal, securing his spot as #2 all-time for LASC. Kate Machacek stepped up on a relay to deliver the fastest 50 Free split in the country by a 13 year old girl so far this season. Finally, LASC was able to have a nice cap to the meet as the trio of Riley Ginther, Alex Ginther, and Kate Machacek were able to sweep the 50 Breaststroke podium in the 13 year old final for the swim of the meet for the team.

We will need volunteer help from our membership in running this meet so we can be great hosts for this provincial event.
