Swimmer of the Month
Hello folks,
We are getting caught up with our of Swimmer of the Months awards, so without further ado, here are the SOTMs for April and May.
Olympic Way 1 (April) - Hayes Nickel
The swimmer of the month for April is Hayes Nickel. Since the beginning of the season, Hayes has demonstrated a strong work ethic and great sportsmanship. He is respectful to his team mates and was recently praised for his kindness to the officials after his races. At the Dino cup meet, Hayes’ hard work paid off as he made best times in all of his events and swam to 1st or 2nd place in all of his events. He was also awarded 2nd place aggregate for 7 and under boys. It’s a pleasure to coach Hayes as he always comes to practice with a smile and a great attitude. Great work Hayes! - Kaila
Olympic Way 1 (May) - Niri Roberts
The swimmer of the month for May is Niri Roberts. Niri has had great attendance the past few months and her hard work was rewarded at the recent Lethbridge meets where she swam 100% best times at both meets. Some of her events, she raced for the first time. Niri has been more focused on her technique and stroke improvement and with her consistent effort and training, her improvements continue to grow. Olympic Way 2 (April) -cBrynlee Smigel
The Swimmer of the month of April is Brynlee Smigel. She always shows up to practice with positivity and enthusiasm to swim. She works hard every practice and shows a willingness to learn. She implements all feedback and it shows in her results. Congratulations Brynlee and keep up the good work! - Carly
Olympic Way 2 (May) - Elizabeth Forrestell
Elizabeth is a very bright young swimmer. She shows up everyday with a smile on her face and ready for any kind of practice we throw at her. Her hard work paid off at the Medicine Hat meet where she achieved 100% best times. Congrats Elizabeth - Carly
Provincial (April) - Nathan Bam
Nathan brings a constant positive energy to the pool on a daily basis which allows him to be a very coachable swimmer. His positivity, along with his hard work, has been key for Nathan’s improvements in the year. - Tara
Provincial (May) - Evelyn O’Brien
Evelyn is constantly looking and asking for wats she can improve and get better in the pool. A tireless worker, Evelyn uses both her mind and muscles to their fullest extent when she is at the pool. Her determination always makes her a pleasure to coach. - Tara
Jr. National (April) - Evan Grant
Evan had a very successful April, competing out in Saskatoon, he saw time drops in every swim he stepped up for including a huge drop in his 50 Free where he nearly scored a Champs cut. While working hard has always been a good trait for Evan, he has made huge strides in his ability to stay engaged and focused in sets and the benefits are starting to shine through. - Josh
Jr. National (May) - Esme Laird
Esme is a constant bright spot in the Jr. National group as she always seems to come in with a positive attitude and improves the mood of those around her. Not only is she making waves with her attitude, but her training level has kept rising and rising all season and we saw that work pay off of in full effect in the month of May. Over the span of the Coulee Kids Classic and AMAC Madness meet, Esme set new best times across 8 events along with a highlight of securing her first every Provincial Trials time in the 50 Free. - Josh
National (April) - JJ Koop
Coming off of a very successful run during the Winter months, JJ saw a somewhat different event lineup in his sole meet of the month. Regardless, JJ put up a very solid display, securing best times across 7 events, many of which a bit faster than anticipated. JJ has consistently been one of the group leaders in attendance this season and has shown an excellent job in increasing the range and variety of his events this year. - Josh
National (May) - Aaron Friesen
Another swimmer coming off of a very successful Winter Championships, Aaron continued to progress with a few best times in both April and May. Aaron’s work ethic in practice has continued to improve throughout the year and can be seen in a greater willingness and ability to finish sets across the strokes and distances. Aaron looks to be gearing up for what should be an exciting finish to the end of the season. - Josh
