June Newsletter #4
Hello everyone,
Welcome to the last week of programming for the LASC season. We hope you have enjoyed the ride so far and your time in and around the pool. Our groups wrap up with Friday Night Races this Friday for our last swim.
Year-End BBQ & Awards - June 18th
Thank you to everyone who came out and celebrated our successes with us last week at our BBQ and Awards night. We had a great turnout for our BBQ down in the Coulee’s and it was great to see the members join together to celebrate one another.
Last Day of Swimming / Friday Night Races
The last day of swimming for LASC will be this Friday, June 27th. We are closing the year off with our Friday Night Races to have a fun last day at the pool.
Please have your swimmer arrive on deck for 4:15. We will have a short warm-up before we kick off racing.
You can find all of the meets and further information, including entries and timeouts, on our Event page.
Alberta Summer Provincial Trials - Medicine Hat, June 27th - 29th
Thank you to all those that signed up for Alberta Provincial Trials. We will have entries out to the swimmers soon and we can’t wait for what will be a fast and exciting end to the year for our Trials swimmers.
Edmonton Keyano International (EKI) - Edmonton, July 3rd - 6th
Thank you to all those who signed up for the Edmonton Keyano International. The 4 day Heats and Finals event is a great tune up for Swimmers getting ready for Summer Champs or for other swimmers looking to end the season with a big meet experience.
Alberta Summer Championships - Edmonton, July 24th - 27th
All qualified swimmers in Jr. National, National, and Academy are encouraged to attend. The last meet of the LASC calendar sees the best of the province duke it out in the last Provincial Meet of the season.
International Student - Hosting Inquiry
Earlier this year, we had the opportunity of welcoming an exchange student, Elio, from France to join the team for a brief stint while they visited here. Anyone who met him would be able to attest to his character, friendliness, and attitude. He made a visible and lasting impact on many of the people he was able to interact with. Next year, we will have the opportunity to host another exchange student hailing from the same swim club in France as our friend Elio.
We are being proactive and looking for any families that may be interested in hosting an International Student next season from Mid-April to Mid-June. She is a 15 year old French Student who will be swimming with either the National or Academy groups. The family that took Elio in will not be able to take this girl in, however they would be happy to help provide details and information about the process. For more information you can contact myself or Danielle Koop at [email protected].
Take care and swim fast!
Josh
