Swimmer of the Month
Olympic Way (October)
The Olympic Way swimmer of the month for October is Yarra Murray. Since the beginning of the season, Yarra has been working extremely hard on improving her technique and skills in the pool. She consistently demonstrates great leadership by confidently leading her lane and taking initiative to learn how to read the pace clock.
Her dedication and positive attitude have truly paid off — at the LASC Fall Challenge, Yarra achieved 100% best times across all her events.
Congratulations, Yarra! Keep up the great work and we can't wait to see you keep improving throughout the season!
Provincial (October)
Livia Eastman had a great month with a great combination of attendance, attitude and effort in practice resulting in excellent racing and 100% best times at the Fall Challenge. Well done!
Jr. National (September + October)
Hanna Sundal has started the season off in all the right ways. A great attitude and attendance record has seen her make massive time drops at the start of the season. Meanwhile her work ethic and sportsmanship has made her a wonderful lanemate as she pushes her teammates throughout practice.
Jocelyn Kozub has done a fantastic job of making the most of a difficult situation. Unfortunately she came into the season with a knee injury that has prevented her from doing any kick. Despite this setback, Jocelyn has kept a great attitude and has done what she can to overcome and make the most out of what she can do in the pool. Against these odds, she still showed her best at the meet, racing to 4 lifetime bests across the freestyle distances and showcasing her great perseverance.
National/Academy (September + October)
Kya Pratt has come into this season showcasing what a great attitude and willingness to try can do. Starting off the season with a good attendance and work ethic, she had an absolute showing at the Fall Challenge where she knocked huge chunks of time off her 200/400 Free and 100 Back, earning her Champs cut in the latter.
Alex Ginther has kept the momentum going from the strong end to last season and has entered this year looking like she's ready to keep improving. A strong swimmer across every stroke, her weekly dedication to working all four strokes and IM has led to her to being able to handle lots of different sets and see success in every stroke. Her versatility was on full display at the Fall Challenge as she swam to lifetime bests in all four strokes.
Take care and swim fast!
Josh
