LTAD: Learn to Train
Goal for this group:
The Novice program is designed for young swimmers beginning their competitive journey. Our objective is to cultivate a lasting passion for swimming by creating a supportive, fun, and inclusive team environment that encourages learning and growth.
Training focuses on developing technical proficiency across all four competitive strokes—freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly—as well as dives and turns. Instruction is delivered through engaging activities and skill-based drills that emphasize enjoyment while building essential swimming fundamentals.
Athletes at this stage are introduced to friendly competitive racing, where the emphasis is on participation, sportsmanship, and demonstrating newly acquired skills in a positive and encouraging setting. These early experiences help build confidence and foster excitement around competition.
Workouts are designed to improve basic training habits, reinforce proper technique, and begin developing aerobic capacity in a playful and motivating atmosphere. Swimmers learn the value of effort, consistency, and teamwork as they grow within the sport.
The Novice program serves as the first step in our competitive pathway. By nurturing enthusiasm and establishing strong technical foundations, we prepare athletes for progression into the Orange group and continued development in swimming.
