LOSC & PSW Meets - Feb 12/13

Ben Geary

This past weekend we had groups attend the Langley LC Invitational, as well as our home meet at Grandview, the PSW Tri-Cities Meet. There were great performances throughout the weekend and multiple qualifiers for the upcoming Divisional and Provincial Championships!

National & Western Development
National and Western Development were under quite a bit of work and still put together some great highlighted swims:
- first 16-17 Provincial time for Ethan K in the 100 Fly
- Cyan N dropped 10 seconds in the 400 Free with a huge swim
- Raymond Z and William H put up some great 800s that they will be building off at Divisionals in a couple weeks
- Brielle W had a great 400 IM and qualified in that event for Provincials
- Elina H swam a great 400 Free dropping 6 seconds from just two weeks ago

Youth Provincial
Youth Provincial had a great weekend racing at both meets. The group has had multiple coaches work with them over the last month but have stayed consistent and are working hard towards the upcoming Championship meets. Some highlights from the weekend:
- Tyler M achieved his first (and 5 total) Provincials standard for the 11-12 age group
- Aimee W raced for the first time in two years and achieved multiple Divisionals standards in the 11-12 age group
- Maddy O had a great weekend and added to her Divisionals standards, taking off significant time in events she swam a week prior
- Max W had an awesome 800 Free where he split consistently and didn't hold back any effort
- Vanessa R had a great long course 100 Fly where she almost achieved her Junior Nationals (CJC) time standard
- and last but not least...our 12 year old Boys 4x50 Free Relay broke the Provincial Record in a time of 1:51.00 - great job boys (Neil Z, Max W, Borui Z, Matthew C)!!!

Junior Provincial
Some highlights from the Junior Provincial group at the PSW Meet were:
- Rhianna 100 Fly - had awesome underwaters off every wall with a tight streamline. She kept her hips at the surface and got another Divisional time!
- Curtis 200 Back - was specifically exceptional because he worked on kicking throughout the entire race and knew his stroke count into every wall!
- Jack raced his first 800 Free and even though the bell was rung early he counted properly and finished strong. Awesome job Jack!
- Nio achieved his 50 Free Divisional standard and had a great attitude after every race. He was giving high fives all weekend - keep up the great team spirit!
