Haney LMR Recap
PSW had 27 swimmers compete this past weekend at the Haney LMR meet. The 12 and under session on both days brought a lot of best times and very memorable swims across the board!
Yein K competed in her first ever LMR. Angelica W, Bena O, and Rhianna J all raced their very first 400 Freestyle. Sarocha A, Aanya S, and Rhianna J also completed their first 200 Fly!
There were a lot of memorable swims from this weekend: Lauren F. had a great 50 Freestyle focusing on a low breath count and finishing strong from flags to the wall. Curtis X. 100 Fly followed his coache’s race plan as he held great technique throughout, keeping a constant kick and breathing every two strokes. He dropped almost 10 seconds and said he wants to do it again and go even faster! Thomas K raced his 200 Freestyle and BOTH 100 splits were under his former 100m Freestyle best time.
Nio L. had an overall amazing weekend. He got best times in every event (dropping a total of 44.87 seconds) and achieved 4 more Divisional standards! All his races were swum to the best of his ability, and he had great enthusiasm throughout the meet. Rhianna J. also had an outstanding weekend; she raced her 400 Free and 200 Fly very well and almost achieved Divisionals (AND it was her very first-time swimming both of those events).
In the afternoon 13&O sessions PSW had 4 swimmers competing in their first ever LMR Meet; congrats to Sean H., Sam G., Yejun K., and Iris L.
The boys from Provincial Development took ownership of their races this weekend by bringing to the coach what their focus and race strategy for each event should be and this lead to some great personal bests. Justin D had a 5 second PB in his 100 FS, Connor S swam to PBs in both his 50 & 100 Breast events, and Paul X swam a 2 second PB in 50 Back.
Sean H and Monica R pushed each other side by side in their 100 Breastroke heat to 12 second personal bests, Lucas G went an 11 second best time in his 200 Freestyle with outstanding splitting in the last 3 50s and Daniel R went a 30 second best time in his 200 Freestyle.
All in all it was a great weekend at the pool in Haney. Go PSW, Go!
