Delta 11 & Under Meet Recap

Amy McGrail

This past Sunday PSW had 30 swimmers compete at the Delta 11& Under Sprint Cup.

The Junior Provincial group had 4 swimmers competing. Miko P impressed all of the coaches from the very start with his explosive dives and tight streamlines as he entered the water. Nio N had 5 outstanding races: he swam 100’s of each stroke and ended the meet with a 200 IM managing to get all best times and Divisionals in every event. Curtis X had great turns throughout the meet! During his 100 fly, he took off 15.80 seconds even though he competed in this event two weeks ago at the HSSC meet! Rhianna J had an exceptional 50 backstroke getting another divisional time. She used her walls and kept a fast stroke rate throughout. Keep up all the great work, Coach Laiken is excited to see you all race at LMRs and Divisionals!

The Junior Development group had 16 swimmers competing, including Holtin L, Rita W, Amica HW, Bellamy K, Aria K, Chantelle L and Sofia N all competing in their first meet above a PASS Meet! The entire JD group was enthusiastic and excited to race all 4  stroke 50s  and concentrated on having good streamlines and breakouts. Some racing highlights included Emily W being a Bell Heat Winner in her 5o Back, and Lucien L going 100% best times across the 4 events. Our 2 biggest best times of the day came from Rita W who lowered her 50 FS best time by just over 10 seconds and Aaron N who dropped a whopping 17.5” from his 50 breastroke personal best he had swam last month in Chilliwack. Great racing by all, and Coach Amy cannot wait to see you compete at our home meet next weekend.

The Junior Regional group had 10 swimmers competing and impressed coach Darlene by performing their underwaters and breakouts in all their events after weeks of training for them. What you do in practice does make an impact! Some highlight swims included Lucas N achieving his first ever Divisional time standard in the 50 Back and Alex S and Chelsea Z going 1oo % best times across their events and Gioia T took off over 25 seconds from her previous 100 IM best time ! Coach Darlene is excited to see what her swimmers can do next at LMR Champs and our home meet.

Go PSW, Go!
