Junior Development (Ages 8-12, - 4 hours a week) / Divisions: White & Blue

Overview:

Junior Development is a young athletes introduction to the world of Competitive swimming! This is an exciting
point in a swimmer’s journey where they begin to apply the Fundamentals from the AADM to a daily training
environment. (Swimmers in this tier have demonstrated high levels of enthusiasm for the sport of swimming and
are excited to begin racing, working towards the mark of a sub 4:00 200IM - qualifying them for regional
competitions)

Athletes in Youth development Demonstrate the following:

Teamwork - Swimmers can work well in a tier setting, are considerate of teammates and can follow a practice.
Athletes First - Swimmers in this tier are encouraged to supplement their swimming with other sport-based activities to help develop land-based movement skills and physiological attributes that can support their long term success in swimming. (Agility, bone density, in game awareness, competitive drive, Teamwork).
Competitive - Athletes attend as many racing opportunities as possible to develop a love of racing, and opportunities to learn how to race. Parents keep the coach updated regarding any absences or obligations outside of swimming that may affect the athlete’s weekly attendance or ability to partake in competition.
FUN! - Swimmers in this tier are excited about swimming and seek out opportunities to enjoy learning, developing confidence in the water, and practicing foundational skills that will contribute to their long-term success as swimmers!
