Five Fernley High School Swimmers who are also Fernley Aquatic Swim Team (FAST) swimmers fair well at their first high school swim meet. The high school team was formed this year. FHS swim team beat Sparks swim team in overall points. Jasmine Schaffer set the high school record in the 100 Fly & 500 Free, Morgan Miller set the high school record in the 100 back & 100 free, Alan Ackerman set the high school record in the 50 & 100 free. Fernley Aquatic Swim Team Swimmer, Jasmine Schaffer heads to Las Vegas to compete at the Sierra Nevada State Championship Swim Meet . The four day meet starts Sat October 8 and runs thru Tues. October 11. Jasmine Schaffer qualified for the 1650 yard freestyle (1 mile), 500 & 1000 yd freestyle, 400 yd individual medley, 200 & 100 yd Butterfly, 200 & 100 yd Breaststroke. Although Jasmine has qualified for eight events she has chosen to swim five events in order to concentrate her efforts on the 1650 yard freestyle...

The Fernley Aquatic Swim Team (Sharks) in conjunction with the Sparks Piranhas held their Swim Meet of the year on September 13 & 14 at the Fernley Community Pool. It was a huge success and they hope to host many more. As the interim coach (Lupe Schaffer) I would like to state; "The swim team was very excited about hosting this meet." Our team has been dealing with many challenges lately, no pool to practice in, losing a head coach and traveling to Fallon and Reno to get some time...

Starting Sept. 2, FAST monthly dues will be $20 for the first swimmer, $10 for the second swimmer, and the third swimmer from a family is free of monthly dues. In addition to the team dues, a $30 punch pass, good for 30 swims, will go into effect. This punch pass will approximately last for 8 weeks, depending on how many times a swimmer attends practice per week.

The Fernley Swimming Pool is scheduled to reopen on Saturday, August 9. FAST will start team practice on Monday, August 11, from 4:00-5:45. See you there. Yay! Having practice in Fernley is great. No more driving to Fallon.

Samuel (Sam) Wright has good listening skills, follows directions like a dream, always works super hard, never complains and puts a lot of effort into his performance at practice. Sam did a great job at his first swim meet, held in Woodland, Ca. in May. Sam is a pleasure to work with. Congratulations Sam Keep up the great work!
