Three members of the Fernley Aquatic Swim Team (FAST) competed at the Davis Aquadarts BB +/- Swim Meet on Sept. 21-23 in Davis , CA . Michaela (Mic) Whitfield - Was chosen for her competitive nature. Michaela as a 9 year old swam some very impressive races this month competing with the 9-10 year olds. She brought everything she had, put it on the table and swam her best. Michaela achieved a new Long Course Junior Olympic time. Qualifying at the beginning of the month, and aquired many new best times as well as new standard swim times. Congratulations to the Fernley Aquatic Swim Team (Fast) swimmers who competed at the Sierra Nevada Junior Olympic (JO) Long Course Championships on July 26-29 held in Roseville, California. The event had 1200 swimmers competing. Even though none of the swimmers Jasmine (Jazz) Schaffer, Mackenzie (Mac) Clark, Michaela (Mic) Whitfield, and Morgan Miller made the finals night, the swimmers dropped times or came in at their times. The dedication of the bench in honor of Cinda Kennel was a success. Friends, and swimmers from the Fernley Aquatic Swim Team (FAST) attended. Coach Lupe Schaffer, a friend and fellow Coach-Mate, gave a speech honoring Cinda for her accomplishment as the former Coach of the team. The Fernley Aquatic Swim Teams first team BBQ held on June 3o, 2007 was a little work and alot of fun. Swimmers and Parents spent the morning and afternoon preparing the float for the Fourth of July Parade. Everyone took a little break to enjoy the hamburgers and hotdogs prepared by Chas Dickey. FERNLEY AQUATIC (SHARKS) SWIM TEAM RESULTS ONE SWIMMER ATTENDED 13-14 group girls Morgan Miller: 13 years old, swam in the 50 free- finishing 1st, 100 free - finishing 2nd, 200 free finishing 2nd,100 back finishing 2nd, 200 back - finishing 2nd,100 breast finishing 5th, 200 breast finishing 3rd, 100 fly finishing 6th and 200 IM finishing 3rd. Morgan ended the meet with 2nd place high point finisher for the 13-14 year old girls. Way to go Morgan.
