Tsunamis Swim Academy Policies
GENERAL POLICIES
- Parent/Guardian Presence Policy: To ensure the safety and well-being of all swimmers, we require that parents or guardians remain on-site during swimming lessons. This policy helps us address the following important needs:
- Safety and Emergency Situations: Parents or guardians must walk their swimmers into the facility, ensuring they arrive safely. In the event of an emergency, it is vital that parents or guardians are present and able to assist as needed.
- Bathroom Assistance: Lessons last for 30 minutes, and swimmers may require bathroom breaks during that time. Parents or guardians should be available to assist if needed.
- Demonstration of Progress: At the end of each lesson, swimmers may be encouraged to demonstrate what they’ve learned. Parent or guardian presence provides a valuable opportunity for swimmers to share their progress and gain positive reinforcement.
We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all swimmers.
- Designated Parent Observation Area: Parents are not allowed to stand next to the pool during lessons. You will be asked to remain in the designated observation area:
- Calypso Cove (Margate): This is the area to the right of the entrance, close to the concession stand.
- Photography & Video Policy: For the safety and privacy of all swimmers, photos or videos may only be taken at the end of the class and with prior permission from the deck supervisor. This policy ensures that lessons are not disrupted and that the privacy of other participants is respected. Please be mindful of others and ensure that no other swimmers are unintentionally included in your photos or videos.
- Eating Before Class: It’s okay for children to eat before their class, but we ask that they finish eating at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the lesson. Stick to simple, bland foods to avoid upset stomachs. It’s recommended to avoid dairy, as it may cause discomfort.
- Floaties, swim vests, and water wings/puddle jumpers: We require that all program parents adhere to our policy and not use floaties, swim vests, or other floatation devices while your child is enrolled in lessons. Floaties, swim vests or other floatation devices place children in a vertical position while in the water, which is the drowning position. The Tsunamis Swim Academy teaches real swimming and the use of floaties, swim vests, or other floatation devices is counter-effective and cancels out all the hard work both your child and our coaches do.
- If a parent insists on using floaties, swim vests, or other floatation devices, other than a Coast Guard-approved water safety vest in the water, the Tsunamis Swim Academy has the right to refuse and cancel enrollment in our program.
CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY
- No Make-ups or Refunds: No make-up lessons or refunds will be provided for missed classes, except under specific circumstances.
- Rescheduling: To reschedule a class, contact Coach Gabi at least 24 hours before the scheduled lesson. Availability for a substitute class is not guaranteed, as it depends on pool space and instructor availability.
- Medical Absences: If your child misses multiple lessons due to an illness or injury (e.g., ear infection, broken limb), a credit will be given for missed lessons toward the following session, but only after providing documentation and registering for the next session.
- No-show Policy: If a lesson is canceled less than 24 hours before the scheduled time, it will be considered a "no-show," and no make-up will be offered.
- Late Arrival: We will wait up to 10 minutes after the start of a class. if you arrive more than 10 minutes late, the lesson will count as a no-show.
- Weather-Related Cancellations: Classes will typically be canceled only due to thunderstorms. If canceled, lessons will be rescheduled during a make-up week following the last scheduled week of the session. If you don't attend the rescheduled class, no additional make-up will be provided. Weather-related cancellations will be communicated via the "remind" app, but if you don’t receive a notification, you should still show up for the scheduled class. If the weather clears, you will want to be there to get in on time and not have it count as a no-show.
- Lesson Duration: If a class is interrupted by weather and the lesson reaches at least 20 minutes, it will count as a full lesson. If the class is interrupted before 20 minutes, it will be rescheduled.
