"When the Sarasota YMCA Sharks arrived in North Carolina for this year's YMCA Short Course National Championships, the members of the tradition-rich swim club were wearing an unfamiliar tag.

They were the underdogs.

The Sharks didn't win the event last spring for the first time in nearly a decade, an unfamiliar feeling for a program that has made a habit of stockpiling championships since it was hatched in 1961."
