Welcome To SFS
Our Vision: Promote a sense of community that will endure beyond the swim season.
Our Mission: To provide opportunities for competitive swimmers to grow and develop their skills in the world of competitive swimming. To sharpen their social, mental, and physical skills in the sport of competitive swimming. To provide opportunities for participants to develop and practice self-discipline and great sportsmanship. To promote the appreciation for hard work, commitment, dedication, perseverance, and self-confidence. To provide training, and learning experience that will meet the needs and interests of the team.
Our Philosophy: We know that not every swimmer will be an Olympian, but they can all learn, internalize, and live the Olympic ideals of vision, focus, persistence, commitment, and discipline. These principles, more than any gold medal or national record, will help each child as they grow and enter the realms of higher education and society in general. We strongly feel that if you help nurture the child, you will help develop or even unleash the champion within.
History: The Swordfish Swim Team is a program of the Department of Parks and Recreation. The Swordfish Swim Team was founded by Aquatic Supervisor Elisha “Reno” Bashir in 1997. Coach Willie Williams was the Youth Swim Coach at the time and brainstormed with Coach Reno until they came up with the Swordfish name. The Swordfish Team was later developed into a USA/GA Competitive Swimming Team The team started with 10 inexperienced swimmers. The was formed to provide an organized competitive swim team program in the South Fulton area, which offered a year-round experience in competitive swimming.
