Welcome To SFS

Our Vision

To foster a strong, inclusive sense of community that extends beyond the swim season and positively impacts athletes and families for years to come.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide competitive swimmers with meaningful opportunities to grow and excel in the sport of swimming. We are committed to developing athletes’ technical abilities while also strengthening their social, mental, and physical skills. Through structured training and positive experiences, we emphasize self-discipline, sportsmanship, and respect for others. We strive to instill an appreciation for hard work, commitment, dedication, perseverance, and self-confidence, while delivering training and educational experiences that meet the evolving needs and interests of our team.

Our Philosophy

While not every swimmer will become an Olympian, every athlete can embrace and embody the Olympic ideals of vision, focus, persistence, commitment, and discipline. These values—more significant than medals or records—equip our swimmers with life skills that extend beyond the pool and into higher education and society. We believe that by nurturing the whole child, we help develop confidence, character, and the potential to unleash the champion within.

Our History

The Swordfish Swim Team is a proud program of the Department of Parks and Recreation. Founded in 1997 by Aquatic Supervisor Elisha “Reno” Bashir, the team was established through collaboration with Youth Swim Coach Willie Williams, who helped develop the team’s identity and name.

Originally beginning with just 10 inexperienced swimmers, the Swordfish Swim Team was created to provide an organized, year-round competitive swimming program in the South Fulton area. Over time, the program evolved into a USA Swimming and Georgia Swimming–affiliated competitive team, continuing its mission to provide high-quality training and competitive opportunities for swimmers in the community.
