M3A SWIM SCHOOL SPRING 2024 STAFFING UPDATES

CHICAGO, Feb. 20, 2024 — M3 Aquatics and the M3A Swim School would like to announce with extreme gratitude to her service that Feb. 28 will be Magdalena (Magda) Glotzer’s last day with the club as she ramps up her triathlon training in hopes of qualifying for world championships. Magda has been a member of the M3 Aquatics staff since 2021 and was the first M3A Swim School Director. Magda’s role will be filled by Jonathan (Jon) Hutton from Sacramento, CA who previously interned with the club in the fall of 2023.

During Magda’s tenure leading the swim school she oversaw the complete growth of the program growing the average number of attendees per session to over 80 swimmers. “I want to thank Coach Kate for trusting me to build the swim school from the ground up and for the team of coaches — Ben, Mo, Rob, and Mirko for helping me along the way. It has been a true pleasure watching the swim school grow,” said Glotzer. In Jon’s new role he is excited to do his part in fulfilling M3A's mission of robust community engagement for the youth on the South Side of Chicago.

Jon comes into this role with experience as a head coach, swim instructor, and aquatics administrator. Jon holds a degree in economics from California State University, Sacramento and has been part of the aquatics community for over twenty years.

M3 Aquatics is a Chicago-based swimming, diving, masters, water polo, and triathlon team. In May of 2020, the staff of M3 Aquatics determined that addressing the social unrest and ever-present inequities on the South Side of Chicago was a moral imperative that went hand-in-hand with a holistic training philosophy. Following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota and localized calls for justice, the staff of M3 Aquatics built a team focused on providing top-tier training with a robust community engagement component. M3 Aquatics then set out to curate a program focused on reducing the countless unnecessary drowning deaths that occur disproportionately among people of color, preparing athletes for college readiness, and equipping young people with a skillset to recognize the inherent dignity of all people. M3 Aquatics received their charter from USA Swimming on August 6, 2020, and serves athletes and their families from 26 zip codes predominantly from the south side of Chicago. M3 Aquatics is a registered USA Swimming member club, as well as a member of USA Diving and U.S. Masters.
