Indiana Swimming

Policies

USA Swimming, Indiana Swimming, and GREAT's top priority continues to be keeping our athletes safe. No form of abuse, including child sexual abuse, has a place in our sport. As a part of our continued commitment to safeguarding our athletes, USA Swimming has enacted enhancements to the Safe Sport policy and education requirements.

This document outlines one-on-one interactions, social media, and electronic communications, travel: local and team, locker rooms and changing areas and massages, rubdowns and athletic training modalities.  All USA Swimming member clubs were required to implement MAAPP in full by June 23, 2019. GREAT has always put our athlete's safety first and we continue to do so.

Bullying

Bullying is counterproductive to team spirit and can be devastating to a victim. GREAT is committed to providing a safe, caring and friendly environment for all of our members. If bullying does occur, all athletes and parents should know that incidents will be dealt with promptly and effectively. Anyone who knows that bullying is happening is expected to tell a coach, board member or athlete/mentor.

Locker Room Monitoring

While locker room monitoring is addressed in the MAAPP, this policy goes into more detail regarding the safety of our athletes in the locker room. It details the efforts to maintain safety and personal privacy, as well as mitigate problematic behavior.

This policy gives parents or guardians the opportunity to consent for their child to have their picture taken at team events. It also goes over various guidelines that are to be followed for anyone taking pictures at our team events, to ensure that all pictures are of an appropriate nature, and used in an appropriate manner.
