Welcome to the Barracudas Champs page!
This year Champs will be held on Saturday, August 9th, 2025.
This is the highlight of the season - our whole team comes together and parties under our team tents with lots of food and bonding. This year we hope to wow the crowd and break into the top positions. Our swimmers are awesome - there is no team without all of us!
The board would like to take this opportunity to congratulate every swimmer that qualified so far this season! Remember that the Pentathlon is an additional chance to swim a qualifying time - be sure to sign up for the Penthathlon if your swimmer hasn't gotten all of his or her qualifying times.
We expect all of our swimmers, whether they swam a qualification time or not, to swim at least one event at the ISL Championships meet. If your swimmer swam one or more qualification times, they can swim the events they qualified for (up to three). If they did not swim a qualification time, then they will swim their best/favorite stroke at Championships.
ISL Championships will include ALL 22 teams that make up the Irvine Swim League, and will be held at the Woollett Aquatic Center. Because of the size of the pool, two events will be swimming at the same time, so the meet moves very quickly. The ISL Champs meet determines our team's ranking in the league, and it is also the only place where league records can be set.
We expect all of our swimmers to participate in Championships, so please RSVP on our website as quickly as possible! There will be a lot more information about Championships coming your way soon, but if you have questions, don't hesitate to ask your coaches! Here are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about ISL Championships:
Q: If my swimmer did not swim any qualifying times, can he/she still participate at Champs?
A: ABSOLUTELY! Every swimmer in the Irvine Swim League can swim at least one event at Champs.
Q: There are so many swimmers - does the meet last all day?
A: NO! The Woollett pool facility is very large, and two separate meets are simultaneously run in the blue and red pool. Younger swimmers and older swimmers swim in the respective pools. The meet runs very fast! And swimmers and parents are not required to stay after swimmers have completed their events!
A: If your swimmer has attained qualifying times for events, they can swim those individual events (up to three). If your swimmer has not attained a qualifying time, they can swim one event. Qualified or not, swimmers may also be selected to swim in a RELAY event!
Q: Do I have to stay at the meet all day if my swimmer only has one or two events?
A: NO! You can come to the meet just for your swimmer's event, but we know you'll get caught up in the excitement and stay longer!
Q: Where do I find our team at the meet?
A: We will be setting up a 'camp' in Heritage Park, right next to the pool with shade, water, etc! We will be providing a site map in a future email.
Q: Will my swimmer be able to swim in a RELAY at Champs?
A: Relay team members will be selected from those swimmers who RSVP for the meet! Please RSVP early!
We're looking forward to working with your swimmers for three more weeks, and watching them be Superheroes at ISL Championships! Stay tuned for even more information about ISL Champs!
