Practice Groups
There are three practice groups that make up LRST: Bronze, Silver and Gold. A swimmer must be at least 6 years of age and have passed LRST's new swimmer tryouts. Please contact us at [email protected] to schedule a new swimmer tryout. A description of the groups is below.
Bronze

Meets three times/week for one hour each practice. Expected attendance at least 2x/week.

Typically swimmers age 6-12. Must be able to complete tryout workout.

Group goals:
-
Have fun and learn the sport

Learn stroke technique for all four strokes and build endurance

Learn starts and turns
-
Learn circle swimming and use of pace clock
-
Meet participation
-
Equipment requirement: Kick board and long fins.

Silver
-
Meets five times/week for hour and a half each practice. Expected attendance at least 3x/week.

Typically swimmers age 10-13, must be proficient in all four strokes.

Group goals:

Continue to have fun and learn the sport
-
Continued development of stroke technique on all four strokes; building of endurance; starts and turns

Achievement of National Age Group Motivational Times
-
Understanding of pace clock and lane etiquette
-
Development of knowledge of proper race strategy
-
Development of speed while maintaining proper stroke technique
-
Participation in minimal dryland workouts
-
Equipment requiremnt: Kick board, long fins, snorkel and paddles.

Gold
-
Meets at least five times/week for two hours each practice. Expected attendance at least 4x/week.

Typically swimmers age 13 and up.

Group goals:

Continue to have fun and learn the sport

Continued development of stroke technique on all four strokes; building of endurance; starts and turns

Continued achievement of National Age Group Motivational Times

Participate in meet. Especially Pentathlon in October and Senior Champs in March.

Continued development of knowledge of proper race strategy
-
Continued development of speed while maintaining proper stroke technique

High school swimmers permitted to attend doubles (two practices/day) where offered. No doubles permitted if not in high school.

Equipment required: Kick board, pull buoy, snorkel, paddles and short fins.

*Please note that ‘expected’ attendance is merely a guideline and there is no repercussion for failing to meet that number in a given week. However, in order to achieve maximum results this is the expected attendance.
**Please remember the Coaching Staff has final say regarding practice group assignments based on the needs of the individual swimmer and LRST. Also, we try to avoid moving kids into a new practice group mid-session. Thus most of these changes will take place between sessions. Thank you.
